Even before the start of the IPL 2026, RCB were the heavy favourites to retain their crown, and that’s exactly what happened as they dominated the tournament and defeated the Gujarat Titans to win successive IPL championships.

This was an RCB win where every single player delivered the goods and won matches for their team. From Virat Kohli to Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Rajat Patidar, every player performed as RCB etched their names in the history books by winning the IPL title.

However, ahead of the next IPL season, the mini auction will take place, and the RCB side will be planning for the future as they aim to win the three-peat. While most of the players were exceptional, some were not, and here is the list of players the franchise might release before IPL 2027.

1) Romario Shepherd

After a successful IPL 2025, Romario Shepherd was heavily backed by the RCB management, but he failed to deliver the goods. He couldn’t finish off the games for RCB, and was also on the expensive side in terms of his bowling.

(Shepherd for RCB in IPL 2026)

  • Barring just one game, he participated in all the RCB matches in IPL 2026, and despite the backing, his numbers reflect a sorry state of affairs.
  • Just 83 runs, with a strike rate of 125, and seven wickets with an economy rate of 11.92 defined Romario Shepherd’s campaign.
  • His batting was subpar, and with the ball, he was too expensive as the batters took him down easily. With the mini auction taking place in December/January, RCB could be tempted to release him and bring in an upgraded version at that designated position.

2) Yash Dayal

Yash Dayal is perhaps the only player in the list who shouldn’t be released based on his IPL performance. The player contributed heavily to RCB’s title win in 2025, but that is when things went downhill for the left-arm seamer.

The RCB bowler was involved in a huge off-field controversy, facing two severe legal cases involving sexual exploitation and the rape of a minor. An FIR was filed against him in Ghaziabad last year, and in another case, he was booked under Minor and POCSO Charges.

As a result, the RCB franchise didn’t release him from the squad, but they banished him from taking part in the IPL (even though he was still associated with the side).

However, if Dayal is not cleared of the criminal charges, the franchise might have to part ways with him before the IPL 2027 season.

3) Suyash Sharma

Ever since Yuzvendra Chahal was released in 2022, RCB have been unable to replace him. The franchise tried Wanindu Hasaranga, but he failed. In 2025, the franchise bought KKR spinner Suyash Sharma in the mega auction, but his wicket-taking contributions diminished.

(Suyash Sharma's IPL record for RCB)

  • Suyash has picked just 17 IPL wickets for RCB in 26 matches, and the economy in 2026 was also on the higher side, as compared to his 2025 stats.
  • He is brilliant when it comes to defensive bowling, but T20 cricket demands wickets in the middle-overs, and that has been lacking from Suyash Sharma in the last two seasons.
