A few days ago, former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh asked for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma’s inclusion in ODIs. The 2011 World Cup player of the tournament urged the management to include these T20I stars in their plans for longer formats.

“I would love to see him (Abhishek Sharma) in the ODIs, to be honest. I have said this before: if we are not picking guys like Abhishek, Ishan Kishan, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in 50-over cricket, then somewhere down the line, we are not doing justice to our talent.”

The internet has backed Yuvraj Singh’s remarks, and this article will shed light on Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s 50-over record.

Abhishek Sharma has a highest score of 170. Interestingly, the southpaw has a strike rate of just 100 in his List A Career. Abhishek's last List A appearance came in January 2026 when he played for Punjab in Vijay Hazare Trophy.

During that tournament, Sharma amassed just 86 runs in 3 innings and didn't score a solitary fifty.

(Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Record in List A Cricket)

For Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, he has played 13 List A games. Unlike Abhishek Sharma, the 15-year-old has actually dominated the fifty-over format as well.

The India opener has 564 runs in 13 innings. He averages 43.38 in List A cricket, which featured a century and 2 fifty-plus scores. It is worth noting that the southpaw was also part of India Under -19 World Cup winning squad, where he scored 175 runs in the final against England.

The good thing with Vaibhav is that he doesn't change his approach for the longer format and has a strike-rate of 176.80 in List A cricket.

Conclusion

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has better List A stats than Abhishek Sharma. The 15-year-old averages 40+ in the fifty-over format while the SRH opener has an average of 33.78. If we go by stats, then it shouldn't shock many if the youngster gets a go ahead of Abhishek in ODIs.
