Player Bio
Zak Foulkes is an up-and-coming all-rounder for New Zealand who regularly represents Canterbury in the domestic circuit. His father, Glen, has represented Canterbury, while his elder brother, Liam, is also an active player for the same team. His younger brother, Robbie, plays in school-level cricket, indicating a strong cricketing lineage.

Zak Foulkes shone in the local tournaments and school games. He soon transitioned into domestic cricket. He debuted for the Canterbury Under-17s in January 2019.

Although his initial performance saw him score just 10 runs, he quickly found his footing. In the 2019 Gillette Cup, representing St Andrew's College, Foulkes delivered a standout performance by scoring 112 runs off 120 balls and taking two wickets against Rosmini College. Throughout the tournament, he amassed 267 runs and claimed nine wickets, playing a pivotal role in securing St Andrew's College's maiden Gillette Cup title.

His promotion to the Under-19 was no surprise. And in the 2020-21 National U19 tournament, he became the highest wicket-taker for Canterbury.

In the Hawke Cup, one of New Zealand’s esteemed district association competitions, Foulkes was included with the Canterbury team. On his debut, he scored 92 runs and secured a six-wicket haul.

Soon, the wait was over for him to wear his List-A cap for the first time, but he didn't have the greatest of debuts there.

Shortly after that, he debuted in first-class cricket against Auckland in the Plunket Shield season. Opening the innings for the side, he couldn’t score much, while bowling in the third innings, he bagged a crucial wicket of Martin Guptill who was looking in great touch.

Recognizing his potential, Canterbury awarded him a professional contract ahead of the 2022–23 season. Expanding his horizons, Foulkes joined Wynnum-Manly for the inaugural KFC T20 Max competition in Queensland, Australia, in August 2022. He made an immediate impact by scoring an unbeaten 102 runs off 52 balls, guiding his team to a thrilling one-wicket victory over Sandgate-Redcliffe.

Foulkes' consistent domestic performances paved the way for his international debut. In April 2024, he was called up to the New Zealand national team as a replacement for the injured Adam Milne during the tour of Pakistan, where he made his debut in the shortest format. Meanwhile, his ODI debut came against Sri Lanka in a rain-curtailed game in late 2024.
