Zaheer Khan became the hot talking point as the former left-arm speedster acquired the Lanka Premier League (LPL) franchise, Jaffna Kings, as the co-owner.

Recently, Zaheer Khan, along with Nagendra Siddoutam, invested in the Antwerp Anchors - a franchise for the EUT20 Belgium League.

Ahead of the ongoing LPL season, the former Jaffna Kings owners, Manjot Kalra and his partner Mayank Goel, were allegedly approached some of their players, which later led to the arrest of the former U19 cricketer.

As the drama unfolded, the SLC decided to resell one of its franchises, with the Antwerp Anchors completing all the formalities of the Jaffna Kings.

Regarded as one of the finest fast bowlers to have ever been produced by India, Zaheer Khan was the poster boy of the Indian cricket team during his active years as a cricketer. Debuting in 2000, the seamer became a regular from the word go and later represented various IPL franchises, such as MI, RCB and Delhi. 

Even after his retirement, Zaheer never let his brand value drop, as he has been actively involved in brand endorsements and paid promotions.

In 2008, when Zaheer Khan was at the peak of his powers, the Indian speedster was acquired by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (now called Royal Challengers Bengaluru) for ₹1.8 crore. For the next two seasons, the seasoned paceman was traded to the Mumbai Indians for the same pay. 

He returned to RCB in 2011 for ₹4.14 crore, and featured for three seasons for the franchise at the same price tag. The local boy returned to Mumbai for IPL 2014, bagging ₹2.6 crore. Eventually, he played, as well as led, Delhi Daredevils in his final IPL seasons for a whopping ₹4 crore each across three years. 

From 2018 till 2022, the former Indian star served as the Director of Cricket and later as the Head of Global Cricket Development with the Mumbai Indians. However, his salary for the job was never disclosed.

He later moved to North of India to be a part of the Lucknow Super Giants on a two-year deal in 2025 as mentor, but he parted ways just after one season. Nevertheless, he reportedly bagged ₹3 crore.
