From Rewa to the IPL: Shivang Kumar’s Rise Through MP T20 League to the Big Stage From the MP T20 League to the IPL, Shivang Kumar’s journey is a fascinating rise through the ranks. Hailing from a family in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, he caught the attention of scouts, especially Sunrisers Hyderabad, while representing Bhopal Leopards in their 2025 title-winning campaign. On paper, the 23-year-old's numbers might not appear extraordinary at first glance, with just five wickets in the tournament. However, an impressive economy rate of 7.21 highlighted his control and discipline. His deceptive left-arm wrist spin, particularly the googly, makes him a dangerous prospect even against top-quality batters. Shivang Kumar’s ability is not limited to bowling alone. He showcased his batting prowess as well, striking at over 196 and producing a stunning 91 off 42 in one innings in MP T20 League 2025. That recognition earned him a Madhya Pradesh debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in November 2025, just before the IPL auction. He featured in four matches in that tournament, picking up four wickets at an economy of 8.05. While the numbers were modest, his discipline and variations stood out. It was clear that he has the control and temperament needed to succeed at higher levels of competition. Shivang Kumar's true breakthrough arrived in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Ahmedabad, where he dismantled Karnataka with a sensational five-wicket haul. After a strong start from their top order, Shivang tore through the middle with his left-arm wrist spin, proving why Sunrisers Hyderabad identified him early.
