While Kohli concluded his Under-19 career with 978 runs, the left-handed opening batter raced past the maestro through his belligerent half-century against Bangladesh in match number seven of the 2026 edition of the tournament on Saturday, January 17.

Suryavanshi topples Babar Azam, Kamal as youngest to make U19 WC 50

Despite losing partners early in the game, Vaibhav Suryavanshi clobbered a breathtaking 30-ball half-century against Bangladesh Under-19 bowlers after getting invited to bat first. Remarkably, at the age of just 14 years and 296 days, the blistering left-handed opener became the youngster cricketer in the history of the Men’s Under-19 World Cup to chart a 50-plus score.

Afghanistan’s Shahidullah Kamal held the previous record by notching up a half-century during the 2014 edition. Pakistan’s modern-day legend Babar Azam now slipped to number three spot for recording an Under-19 World Cup half-century back in 2010 at the age of 15.

India vs Bangladesh U19 updates

India Under-19 team eventually bundled out for just 238 in 48.4 overs. Opening batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi (72 off 67) and wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu (80 off 112) themselves compounded 152 of those runs, with no other player offering assistance to the two half-centurions.
