Tempers ran high in the Big Bash League match 39 of the season, as the visiting Melbourne Stars' bowling attack led by Haris Rauf looked to defend an underwhelming 130 agains Perth Scorchers a battle to claim the top spot on the points table.

In the evening of January 17, as Rauf bowled with his tails up, looking to run over the Scorchers line-up, he got rid of the dangerous Josh Inglis to give his team an outside chance to win the fixture. After dismissing the Australia international, he notably pulled out a new and unique celebration to send off the batter and send a message to the opposition dressing room in the middle of a fiery spell.

The incident happened right at the end of the the four-over mark, after Scorchers only managed a 26-run powerplay. Having picked the key wickets of Mitchell Marsh and Cooper Connolly in his first over, the Pakistan seamer steamed in with a length ball directed outside off stump to Inglis, who tried to pull the delivery but the top-edge went straight to the wicketkeeper Sam Harper, who grabbed a regulation catch.

With this wicket, Scorchers were reduced to 26/3 in just 4.1 overs, all three wickets going to the Pakistan international. Following the wicket, Haris was seen sending the batter back to the pavilion after going on a run with his arms out open. In his unique fashion, he showed Inglis the direction towards the dressing room after his torrid 1 off 9.

Notably, despite pushing the Scorchers back to the wall, the Stars could not capitalize on the start with the ball as the New Zealand batter Finn Allen got 69 off 39 with 2 fours and 7 towering sixes and stitched a 94-run partnership with Aaron Hardie to put his team in a winning position of 120/4 at the time of writing. The Perth-based side only needs 11 runs in 29 balls to clinch the match.

His experience of previously featuring in multiple T20 World Cups and the 2023 fifty over World Cup could come in handy for the Pakistan side, which in on a quest for their second T20 World Cup after winning one in 2009.
