Rohit Sharma scores an ODI ton at Lord's [Source: AFP]
Rohit Sharma was criticised, he was doubted, and the Indian legend was pulled down by many after his successive failures in the ODI series against England. However, the former ODI captain responded in style as he slammed his 34th ODI century in a 388-run tricky chase at the iconic Lord’s.
Before the game, many believed Rohit might be sacked after the England ODIs, but the 39-year-old looked at his imperial best as he tore down the English bowling attack to register his maiden 50-overs century at the Mecca of Cricket.
With a marvellous knock under pressure in the 3rd ODI, Rohit attained a feat that has not been achieved by any Indian in ODIs, not even the great players like Virat Kohli or Sachin Tendulkar.
Rohit becomes first Indian to score an ODI ton at Lord's
Rohit scored an 84-ball century in the 3rd ODI, and interestingly, he became the first Indian batter to slam an ODI century at Lord’s. Before him, the previous record-holder was Sourav Ganguly, who registered 90 against England in 2004.

Rohit's love affair with England continues
Every batter has that one team against whom they enjoy batting, and for Rohit, that opponent is the England side. He has done well against the Three Lions in Tests and T20Is, but it is the ODI format where he has truly risen to the occasion against the English team.
Rohit has the most hundreds by a visiting batter in England (8), and he is only two shy of Joe Root, who has 10 ODI tons in England. In 30 ODI matches in England, the 39-year-old has struck 1588 runs, with an average of 66.16, and it also includes 8 stellar hundreds.
He is the overseas batter with the most ODI runs in England, and it showcases his love for the English grounds as he continues to dazzle.
