The Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru clash on April 27 was a record-maker in itself. While Delhi Capitals had a historic collapse, Royal Challengers Bengaluru didn't leave any stones unturned to break one of the most elite records to their name as well.

The DC vs RCB clash saw the former collapse for just 75 runs inside 16.3 overs, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru completed the chase inside 6.3 overs, winning the game by 9 wickets.

In the process, RCB recorded one of the fastest chases in IPL history, overtaking historic clashes like the MI vss RR and PBKS vs DC clashes.

RCB Creates IPL Chase Record AFter Humiliating DC

As Royal Challengers Bengaluru bagged the second-fastest chase in IPL history inside 6.3 overs against Delhi Capitals, the crown of the record is still with Mumbai Indians, who chased a low total of 68 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders inside 5.3 overs.

Fastest Chase in IPL History

  • 5.3 overs - MI v KKR (68)
  • 6.3 overs - RCB v DC (76)*
  • 7.2 overs - KTK v RR (98)
  • 7.5 overs - PBKS v DC (68)
  • 8.0 overs - SRH v RCB (69)
  • 8.1 overs - RCB v PBKS (89)
  • 8.2 overs - MI v RR (91)

Helping RCB achieve this feat were Jacob Bethell and unbeaten Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal at the crease. As Bethell and Kohli came out to open, the first two overs saw 13 runs.

In the third over, Bethell was dismissed by Kyle Jamieson after getting hit for two back-to-back sixes. Nevertheless, with the target being so low, it was chased in the next couple of overs with Virat Kohli and Padikkal at the crease.

The duo cruised smoothly on the track to complete the chase inside 7 overs. As Virat Kohli finished off in style with two back-to-back sixes off T Natarajan, he sealed the sixth win for RCB from their 8 matches in IPL 2026.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar And Josh Hazlewood Script DC’s Fate

Earlier, RCB bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood spoke destruction. With the ball, the duo managed to topple six wickets of Delhi Capitals inside 3.5 overs as they were hanging at just eight runs.

Sahil Parakh, Sameer Rizvi, and Axar Patel were gone for ducks, while KL Rahul and Nitish Rana managed just one run each, and Tristan Stubbs, the firebrand South African batter, was also dismissed for just five runs courtesy of the Bhuvneshwar-Hazlewood duo.

While Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked three wickets, Hazlewood scalped four, with Rasikh Salam, Suyash Sharma, and Krunal Pandya also contributing with one wicket each.

The mega collapse of the Delhi Capitals' batting unit almost registered a shameful record of RCB itself of getting all out inside 49 runs. However, a brief resistance from Abishek Porel, David Miller, and Kyle Jamieson helped the team rack up a 75-run total on board.

Rajat Patidar Happy After Mega RCB vs DC Win

Nevertheless, Captain Rajat Patidar was happy with the win as he was found exclaiming positive notes on the team gameplay and the unexpected performance from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hazlewood.

"Absolutely. Even I am surprised at how the wicket played. The way Bhuvi and Hazlewood hit those areas and got the ball to swing was amazing. The swing was normal. Good thing was we got early wickets and that's what kept us in the game,” Patidar said after the game.

This also handed RCB a mega record of having the biggest wins in IPL in terms of balls remaining. They won by a margin of 82 deliveries, as earlier they had a record of winning by 71 balls remaining against Punjab Kings back in 2018.
