The RCB Vs CSK IPL 2026 match was supposed to be a high-octane contest, and the first innings certainly lived up to the expectations as the defending champions showed why they are the favourites to win back-to-back IPL titles. After a sedate start, RCB never looked back as the team punished the CSK bowlers, and created history on Sunday.
Virat Kohli and Phil Salt struggled in the initial few overs, but once the team got into the groove, there was no looking back as the defending IPL champions etched their names in the history books by scoring 250 runs.
The assault was led by Devdutt Padikkal, who led the charge after a slow start, but the stars of the show were Rajat Patidar (48* off 19), and Tim David (70* off 25) as RCB recorded their third highest total in IPL history.

250/3 tonight was RCB’s third-highest IPL score. Their 263/5 against Pune Warriors India (PWI) tops the list, and 262/7 against SRH sits second on the table.

RCB's highest IPL total: How Patidar, David helped RCB etch name in history books
Tim David came to the crease when RCB’s scorecard read: 151/3 inside 14.1 overs. The platform was set for a big finish from the Australian, and after taking a couple of balls to settle in, the carnage began. Patidar and David went. toe-to-toe with each other as the duo went bonkers.
At one stage, Patidar was 41 off 14, and had the chance to become the RCB batter with the joint-second-fastest fifty in the league. However, he hardly got deliveries towards the end as David decided to smash the CSK bowlers all around the park and he hammered 8 huge sixes.
David was particularly severe on Jamie Overton as the English player bowled the 19th over and he conceded 30 runs. David took him down easily as RCB scored 250 runs and slammed their third highest IPL score.
At the end of the innings, Patidar remained unbeaten on 48, while David smashed 70 off 25 balls.
