During an IPL 2026 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad, a tense moment happened that could lead to trouble for Rishabh Pant and Mohammed Shami. The match was played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday.

LSG won the toss and chose to bowl first. This decision worked well for the team. Mohammed Shami opened the bowling for LSG and made an immediate impact. Notably, the Bengal pacer dismissed Abhishek Sharma for zero runs in the first over. This gave Lucknow a strong start and put pressure on SRH early in the match.

Mohammed Shami’s excellent bowling performance

Mohammed Shami continued his strong performance in the third over. He dismissed Travis Head who scored only 7 runs from 8 balls.

LSG kept the pressure on the batting team. Sunrisers Hyderabad were in a difficult position at 31 runs for 4 wickets after 9 overs.

It is worth mentioning that Mohammed Shami completed his four overs with very economical bowling figures of 2 wickets for 9 runs, which was one of the best economical bowling performances against SRH in IPL history.

Rishabh Pant looked animated

The main issue happened during the 10th over of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s innings. After completing his four overs, Mohammed Shami was seen leaving the field, and Matthew Breetzke came on as his replacement.

However, at that moment, the umpires stopped the change and called Mohammed Shami back onto the field. The umpires were not happy with the replacement and wanted Shami to stay on the field. This created confusion and led to a long discussion between the players and the umpires.

During this time, Kane Williamson also spoke with the fourth umpire. At the same time, Rishabh Pant was talking to the on-field umpire. Pant looked animated during the conversation, and the discussion appeared heated.

Possible IPL Code of Conduct

According to the IPL rule book, Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct talks about the use of offensive or abusive language during a match. This rule says that players cannot use words that are offensive or inappropriate and can be heard by spectators or microphones. This is considered a Level 1 offence.

If match officials believe that any player used abusive language during the argument, then the players could face a fine or even a match ban. This is why Rishabh Pant and Mohammed Shami could be in trouble after this incident.

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad tried to recover in the match. Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Reddy started batting carefully and built a partnership. They tried to bring the team back into the game and stabilize the innings.

At the time of the update, SRH had reached 123 runs for 4 wickets in 16 overs. The match was becoming balanced, and both teams still had a chance to win.
