In the much-awaited IPL 2026 match between CSK and RCB, Virat Kohli’s stay in the middle was short-lived but entertaining. The former RCB captain scored a brilliant 28 (18), which featured two fours and a solitary six.
Unlike the last match against SRH, Virat didn’t look in complete control of his innings. The right-handed batter was dropped by Shivam Dube when he was on 2. Further, the Indian legend struggled against Kheel Ahmed early on in his innings.
Virat Kohli Takes On Matt Henry After Early Struggle
Virat Kohli adjusted to the conditions once Matt Henry came to bowl the 4th over of the match. The 37-year-old hit Matt Henry for a no-look six that landed 85 metres in the stands. In the same over, Virat hit a four and ran a couple of doubles to up his strike-rate to 150.
It seemed like the veteran regained the Midas touch that seemed to be missing for a brief period. However, Anshul Kamboj broke the hearts of thousands of fans in Chinnaswamy Stadium as he got rid of the former India captain.

It was a short but impactful knock from Virat, who also broke a major Rohit Sharma record.
Virat Kohli Goes Past Rohit Sharma
For the unversed, before the start of the match, Virat required just 16 runs to go past Rohit Sharma for the most runs against a single team in IPL. Rohit Sharma held the record for a long time as the hitman had 1161 runs - Rohit Sharma against KKR, a team he loves to play against.

Virat Kohli has enjoyed playing against CSK over the years. The right-handed batter has 1,174 runs in 36 matches (35 innings) at an average of 38.2, including 10 fifty-plus scores.
The right-handed batter is yet to score a century against the Super Kings. It was a shame that the RCB star failed to convert his start into a big score today at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Nonetheless, Virat is having a great start to the season. He scored 97 runs in two innings. In the first match against SRH, the 37-year-old scored 69 (38). At the time of writing this article, RCB are 129/2 after 12.4 overs.
