Nandani Sharma picked up a wicket against Gujarat Giants in match number 17 of the WPL 2026 season. Sending down her four overs of pace, the Delhi Capitals speedster conceded just 26 runs at an impressive economy of just 6.50, in an innings where the Giants aggregated runs at nearly nine-an-over after batting first.
Through the course of her four-over spell, Nandani Sharma dismissed Gujarat Giants opener and well-set half-centurion Beth Mooney for 58 from 46 balls in the 17th over of the innings. The 24-year-old has now claimed a huge bowling record for the Delhi Capitals Women’s franchise in WPL history.
Nandani Sharma surpasses Jess Jonassen for huge Delhi Capitals record
Playing his maiden WPL season in the ongoing 2026 edition of the tournament, fast bowler Nandani Sharma has picked up 14 wickets in her first innings at an impressive bowling average of 14.71. In her latest outing against the Gujarat Giants Women on Tuesday, January 27 at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, the uncapped Indian cricketer dismissed Beth Mooney to bag her 14th wicket.
Through the course of her latest breakthrough, Nandani Sharma has now claimed the highest number of wickets for any Delhi Capitals Women’s bowler in a single WPL season.
She surpassed the previous record set by Australian left-arm spinner Jess Jonassen during the WPL 2025 season last year. The cricketer picked up 13 wickets in eight matches at the time at a bowling average of 18.07. Here is a look at five Delhi Capitals Women bowlers with most wickets taken in a single WPL edition.

Nandani Sharma in WPL 2026 so far
Nandani Sharma made her WPL debut earlier this month in the ongoing 2026 edition of the tournament for the Delhi Capitals Women’s franchise. In her maiden WPL assignment itself, the speedster has so far picked up at least one wicket in each of her first seven matches.
Nandani Sharma picked up two wickets on debut against Mumbai Indians a couple of weeks ago in Navi Mumbai. She followed it up with an exceptional five-wicket haul (5-33) in a high-scoring game against Gujarat Giants on January 11.
As of now, the 24-year-old is sitting on a pile of 14 wickets in seven innings at an impressive average of 14.71 and an economy rate of 8.24.
Gujarat Giants restricted to 174 in Vadodara
Gujarat Giants Women batted first and charted 174-9 in 20 overs. Shree Charani hogged the spotlight with the ball by picking up sensational figures of 4-31. Chinelle Henry picked up two wickets in the innings, while Nandani Sharma, Minnu Mani and Marizanne Kapp chipped in with a wicket each.
For the Giants, senior opener Beth Mooney top-scored in the innings through her 58-run knock from 46 balls.
