Nepal's batting mainstay Kushal Bhurtel etched his name in history books as he smashed six sixes in an over. He achieved the remarkable milestone in Nepal's inaugural group-stage match in the Asian Men's T20I Qualifier 2026 against China.

Led by Dipendra Singh Airee, Nepal kick-started their campaign in the qualifying tournament with a massive win over China.

Batting first, Nepal posted a massive total of 313 runs for the loss of two wickets. Kushal Bhurtel starred with the bat for his side, smashing 129 runs off just 43 deliveries. He hammered 16 sixes, including six consecutive maximums in an over, thereby scripting history.

After winning the toss, China elected to bowl first in the Asian Men's T20I Qualifier opener against Nepal. The decision proved disastrous for the Chinese side, as Kushal Bhurtel hammered their bowlers to all parts of the ground.

Despite losing his batting partner Aarif Sheikh early, Bhurtel continued his onslaught on the Chinese bowling attack.

He went on to dispatch all deliveries of the ninth over into the fence, thereby joining a rare list of batters who have hit six consecutive sixes in an over in international cricket.

South African legend Herschelle Gibbs was the first player to attain the feat when he smashed Dutch spinner Dan van Bunge for six maximums. Yuvraj Singh became the first-ever Indian cricketer to do it in the 2007 T20 World Cup.

Kieron Pollard hammered six sixes in an over against Sri Lanka, while Nepal's Dipendra Singh Airee and Jaskaran Malhotra from the United States did it against Qatar and Papua New Guinea, in 2024 and 2021, respectively.

Talking about Bhurtel, the dynamic right-hander blazed his way through to a belligerent 43-ball 129 with the help of 16 gigantic sixes before Deng Jinqi dismissed him in the 14th over.

However, his departure couldn't prevent Nepal from finishing their innings on a high note. Kushal Malla and Rohit Paudel joined the run-fest, powering their team to a staggering total with flamboyant half-centuries.

Malla hammered 85 runs off 47 deliveries, while Paudel took only 21 balls to score 69 unbeaten runs.

Nepal crush China in one-sided contest

Riding on Kushal Bhurtel's power-packed century and ballistic knocks from Kushal Malla and Rohit Paudel, Nepal posted 313 runs for two wickets in 20 overs. In response, China's batting unit crumbled like a pack of cards, as they were bundled out for a paltry 92-run total.

Zheng Shenjian emerged as the most prolific batter from the Chinese side, scoring 31 runs off 15 deliveries. Tian Senqun and Du Jianhao were the only other batters to register double-digit scores, while three players were dismissed for ducks.

Nepal opened their account in the points table with the emphatic victory. They will take on Malaysia in their next match in the tournament at Singapore National Cricket Ground on June 4.
