Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face Gujarat Titans in the final of the IPL 2026 season. The mega clash will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

RCB entered the IPL final for the second consecutive time under Rajat Patidar's leadership. The focus will be on Virat Kohli, as the Red Brigade will play their heart out to defend their IPL title. With Rajat Patidar's team eyeing history, here is Virat Kohli's record in IPL finals.

Virat Kohli's journey in IPL finals

Virat Kohli has featured in all IPL finals for the Royal Challengers. He was a teen-age batting sensation in 2009, when RCB lost the ultimate encounter to the Deccan Chargers.

Although he chipped in with a gritty cameo, Kohli's 35-run knock went in vain in the IPL 2011 final, as CSK defeated the Royal Challengers by a convincing margin.

Virat Kohli smashed a 35-ball 54 in the IPL 2016 final against Sunrisers Hyderabad. But, unfortunately, his half-century came in a losing cause, with David Warner's team shattering RCB's IPL title dream.

Although Kohli struggled to get going in the IPL 2025 final against Punjab Kings, valuable innings from the middle-order batters and brilliant bowling spells from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yash Dayal and Krunal Pandya scripted RCB's first-ever win in the high-voltage contest.

Virat Kohli's record in IPL finals suggest that the legendary batter has featured in four matches, scoring 139 runs in 110 deliveries.

He has an average of 34.75 in the IPL finals, while striking at a modest rate of 126.36 across four matches.

Notably, Kohli has struck 9261 runs at an average of 40.09 and a strike rate of 134.53 in the IPL. So, he has been less consistent as well as aggressive in the IPL finals over the years.

Thus, Virat Kohli's record in IPL finals signify the RCB great's underwhelming performance in the ultimate clash. He was a rookie when the Royal Challengers played their first two IPL finals in 2009 and 2011.

Although Kohli was an established name in 2016, he couldn't help RCB get past the finish line during the run chase against SRH in the final.

On the other hand, the IPL 2025 final witnessed a sluggish knock from the batting maestro, as he took 35 balls to score 43 runs on a relatively good batting deck.

Gujarat pace battery vs Virat Kohli: The deciding factor in IPL 2026 final

Although Virat Kohli's record in IPL finals is not extraordinary, his ability to excel against raw pace makes him RCB's biggest hope against Gujarat Titans in the upcoming encounter.

He has clobbered 152 runs off just 82 deliveries across three matches against GT in IPL 2026. Given that the Titans have several fast bowlers who can trouble the batters with searing pace, Kohli will once again be key to RCB's success in the IPL 2026 final.

If he successfully neutralises the initial overs of Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj, Kohli could emerge as a game-changer for the Royal Challengers in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium.
