Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will be at loggerheads in the big Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) final at Ahmedabad on Sunday. However, just before the final showdown, Travis Head has fired indirect shots at the RCB star batter, Virat Kohli.
Kohli and Head were involved in a heated on-field tussle earlier in the tournament, when the two batters tried to get under each other's skin by sledging.
After the match, the RCB batter deliberately refused to shake his hand with the Hyderabad opener, but shook hands with the rest of the SRH players.
Although the BCCI didn't punish either of the batters, social media was divided into two equal halves after the Kohli-Head saga.
How Travis Head indirectly mocked Virat Kohli?
The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were eliminated from the IPL 2026 after a gung-ho Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and fiery Jofra Archer bashed them in the Eliminator in New Chandigarh earlier in the week.
Days after that, Travis Head posted on his Instagram account to thank his team's loyalists. In the post, he shared two images in a carousel: the first, featuring him and Abhishek Sharma walking out of the dugout, and the second, a whole-team photograph.
While thanking the SRH fans, the Australian mocked Virat Kohli by captioning his post - "Appreciate those who showed love and respect."
It is worth mentioning that Head was trolled massively by the Kohli admirers, but some trolling crossed the boundaries by abusing the cricketer and his young family.

Travis Head’s wife openly critised Kohli fans after on-field spat
After the whole Travis Head-Virat Kohli episode, the Australian cricketer's wife, Jessica Head, opened up about the uncalled-for hate she had received due to an on-field spat.
“It feels like a repeat of the abuse that happened after the World Cup. I woke up to my socials blasting... we are fine but they are attacking my friends and family," Jessica Head had said while talking to The Advertiser.
Although a fan favourite, especially in Hyderabad, Head and his wife have received such undue hate from Indian fans before. Similar episodes occurred after the 2023 World Cup final, where Head was the hero for his country, and after the Boxing Day Test in 2024, another game famous for the swashbuckler’s century vs the Rohit Sharma-led India.
Conclusion: Writer's view on fans crossing boundaries
Cricket is indeed widely popular among fans in the subcontinent, especially in India. However, in recent times, the country has become a cricket-loving nation rather than a sports-loving one, leading to top cricketers being treated as demigods, which is still fine.
However, there is no place for trolls in the sport. However, there is no place for trolls in the sport. Moreover, abusing someone’s family is uncalled-for and utterly atrocious, which should not happen to anyone.
