The Guyana Amazon Warriors pulled off an incredible heist in the Global Super League Final, defeating the San Francisco Unicorns in a thrilling contest to win an impossible game. At the halfway stage, the Amazon Warriors looked down and out in the final, but they staged an incredible comeback to win the trophy.

The match took place at Providence Stadium, and despite having the upper hand, the San Francisco Unicorns batters disappointed. Batting first, the Amazon Warriors scored just 85 runs, and in reply, the Unicorns got bundled out for just 79, as the Warriors etched their name in history books.

The Guyana side won by 6 runs, defending a total of 85, and in the process, the Imran Tahir-led team defended the lowest total in a T20 final tournament.

How Guyana Amazon Warriors won a nail-biting final vs San Francisco Unicorns

When a team gets bundled out for a paltry 85, the chasing team feels confident as the target can be chased down easily. Such a final is expected to be a one-sided affair, but the Global Super League Final produced a match for the ages.

The Imran Tahir-led side batted first, and none of their top eight batters crossed the double-digit mark as the San Francisco Unicorns ran riot with the ball in hand.

At one stage, the team was 29-8 and were in danger of getting dismissed inside the 40-run mark before Matthew Forde somewhat resurrected the innings.

Forde scored 28 off 23, and the likes of Imran Tahir and Dwaine Pretorius also reached double digits as the team scored 85 runs, still not enough to win the match.

In reply, just like the Warriors, the Unicorns, too, crumbled, as apart from Oliver Peake, the youngest Australian debutant (31 off 28), none of the top batters did anything significant.

In the final over, the Unicorns were 79/9, and needed 7 runs to win the match, but a run-out changed the course of the match as the Guyana Amazon Warriors created history.

Guyana Amazon Warriors wins their second Global Super League title

This was the third edition of the Global Super League, and interestingly, the Amazon Warriors won their second championship.

The Rangpur Riders won the inaugural edition of the tournament, and the Amazon Warriors clinched their maiden title in 2025 by defeating the Rangpur Riders.

The Tahir-led side won back-to-back championships as they managed to defend the lowest total in a T20 tournament final.
