Arshdeep Singh and Tim Southee are currently at the top of the list of bowlers with the most wickets in the first six overs of T20Is among Full Member nations.
Most Wickets by a Bowler in 1-6 Overs in T20Is (Full Member Nations):
- 65* - Arshdeep Singh (India)*
- 65 - Tim Southee (New Zealand)
- 62 - Blessing Muzarabani (Zimbabwe)
- 62 - Richard Ngarava (Zimbabwe)
- 60 - Shaheen Shah Afridi (Pakistan)
It is important to note that Arshdeep Singh has also achieved another major milestone in his T20I career. The left-arm fast bowler became the first Indian bowler to take 150 wickets in men’s T20Is during the IND vs NZ 5th T20I at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday, October 30.
Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer Partnership Guide India
Meanwhile, earlier in the match, New Zealand won the toss for the first time in the series and decided to bowl first in the fifth T20I. India did not get the start they wanted, as Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson lost their wickets early in the innings.
However, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer helped India recover from the early setbacks. The two batters played attacking cricket and built an important 93-run partnership off 43 balls.
New Zealand, however, made a strong comeback by dismissing both batters within seven balls. Their wickets slowed down India’s scoring rate and put the hosts back in the game, and in the end India made 191/8.
