Finn Allen Loses Balance During Superhuman Effort As Ishan Kishan Survives (Source: X)
India faced an early challenge in the fifth T20I against New Zealand at Seddon Park, Hamilton, on Sunday, November 1, 2026. New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and invited India to bat first.
The visitors lost Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson cheaply, putting pressure on the middle order. However, a brilliant effort from Finn Allen at long-on became one of the biggest talking points of the IND vs NZ 5th T20I.
Finn Allen produced an incredible piece of fielding to almost dismiss Ishan Kishan. However, Kishan survived the close call and got another opportunity to build India’s innings.
Finn Allen's Superhero Effort Goes In Vain As Ishan Kishan Survives
The incident took place in the 7th over when Mitchell Santner bowled to Ishan Kishan. The left-handed batter went after the New Zealand captain and tried to hit the ball over the long-on boundary.
However, Kishan failed to get the desired timing and power behind his shot. Finn Allen, positioned near the boundary, jumped high and caught the ball above his head.
Realising that his momentum was taking him beyond the boundary ropes, Allen quickly threw the ball back into the field.
Finn Allen then managed to return inside the boundary and completed the catch on his second attempt. It was an extraordinary effort, and the New Zealand players initially celebrated what looked like a brilliant dismissal.
However, the third umpire decided to take a closer look at the catch. The replays showed that Finn Allen’s right foot was grounded outside the boundary when the ball was still in his hand. So, Ishan Kishan was given not out and he continued his innings.
