Blair Tickner drops Shreyas Iyer [Source: X]
Shreyas Iyer was back among the runs on Sunday night in Hamilton as India took on New Zealand for the final T20I of the series. Heading into Seddon Park, Iyer did not have a great series, with questions raised on his place in the squad.
After being asked to bat by Mitchell Santner, while Iyer scored a blistering fifty, he was presented with a lifeline before completing his fifty, as Blair Tickner dropped a straightforward catch, leaving everyone shocked.

The incident happened at the 9.4 over mark, after Iyer had launched an attack on Michael Bracewell's off-spin. On the first three balls, Iyer accumulated 16 runs with two sixes and a four. On the fourth delivery, the Indian captain went for another big shot, slog sweeping a straight ball outside off but top-edged it.
The ball went high up in the air towards Blair Tickner on the short fine leg. While the catch looked to be going straight down the fielder's throat, he misjudged it, and the ball went through his fingers, and India settled for a single.
Iyer went on to complete his fifty in 22 balls and eventually got dismissed for 50(23) to Nathan Smith.

As pointed out by the commentator, Simon Doull, during the final T20I of the series, the Kiwis have been under par with their catching in the series. Through the course of the five games, the number of catches dropped by the Blackcaps was 15 before the death overs of the Hamilton T20I began.
Blair Tickner's return to the playing XI went well with the ball, as he dismissed the high-flying Ishan Kishan for 61 off 32, followed by Naman Dhir, but Kiwis take pride in their fielding, and the standards have been considerably lower in the series. By the end of 19 overs, India scored 184/4, taking advantage of drops.
