Glenn Phillips was on a roll at Eden Park against India, as New Zealand piled up a mammoth 259/9 in 20 overs during the fourth T20I of the series. This is after the hosts had already conceded the series after three matches, in pursuit of their first win.
Nitish Kumar Reddy was the biggest victim of Phillips' berserk century, after the allrounder took the bowler to the cleaners before falling after his century. Courtesy of Phillips' knock, Reddy joined an unfortunate list of Indian bowlers by the end of the innings.
Glenn Phillips slams Nitish Kumar Reddy for five successive sixes
The in-form right-hand batter walked in to bat at 34/2 in just the third over of the match. Having scored two fifties in the first three matches of the series, the onus was again on Glenn Phillips to pull the team out of the precarious situation.
The batter did not disappoint and breezed past the fifty before going all guns blazing against Nitish Reddy. As the innings entered the final five overs, Phillips was 60*(36) and Reddy came in to bowl.
After scoring 8 runs on the first two balls, which included a four on a no ball, the Blackcaps batter scored four sixes in a row to conclude the over. 15.3 went over deep extra cover, followed by one over long-off, and the third was sliced over deep third to help NZ go past 200 runs. He ended the over with a straight six on a full toss to get 32 off the over.

Reddy returned for the 20th over of the innings, when Phillips was 101*(47) and the batter welcomed him with the fifth consecutive six off him with one over the third. Nitish Kumar Reddy got rid of the batter on the next ball with a catch to Abhishek Sharma on the deep cover but did not celebrate the wicket.
Nitish Kumar Reddy creates unwanted records
The aforementioned shambolic record created by Reddy is that the bowler bowled the second most expensive over for India in T20Is, equalling Stuart Binny's 32 runs against West Indies in Lauderhill.
Most runs conceded in an over by Indian bowlers in T20Is:
- 34 - Shivam Dube vs New Zealand, Mount Maunganui, 2020 (Tim Seifert, Ross Taylor)
- 32 - Stuart Binny vs West Indies, Lauderhill, 2016 (Evin Lewis)
- 32 - Nitish Kumar Reddy vs Auckland, 2026 (Glenn Phillips & Michael Bracewell), Tonight*
- 29 - Ravi Bishnoi vs England, Manchester, 2026 (Sam Curran, Jacob Bethell)
Most expensive T20I spell for India
- 0/68 - Pradeep Krishna vs Australia, Guwahati, 2023
- 0/64 - Yuzvendra Chahal vs South Africa, Centurion, 2018
- 1/64 - Varun Chakravarthy vs England, Wankhede, 2026
- 1/64 - Nitish Kumar Reddy vs New Zealand, Auckland, 2026, Tonight*
- 0/63 - Axar Patel vs England, Southampton, 2026
- 0/63 - Axar Patel vs West Indies, Ranchi, 2026
This Glenn Phillips knock made a plethora of records and also guided the Kiwis to their highest ever T20I innings total. Should India win the match, it will be the record highest chase in the history of the T20I cricket.
