During the first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh, the broadcaster team made a massive blunder with mentions of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and other Indian players.

The match began at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on May 8, where Bangladesh were asked to bat first. The hosts started strong after Najmul Shanto’s century pushed them to 300+ runs total.

Bangladesh broadcasters make massive blunder

Meanwhile, on Day 2 of the first Test, Bangladesh's official broadcaster for the series made a massive blunder.

Instead of showing the stats of the Pakistan team, the chart displayed the names of Indian players, including Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh and more.

The chart was supposed to show the Test career stats of the Pakistan team. However, the team got the names massively wrong, as no Pakistan player was listed on the map.

This big goof-up caught social media's attention as fans trolled the broadcasters with memes and humorous messages. However, a few Pakistan fans were angry and accused Bangladesh of cheap humour.

Bangladesh in a strong spot after Najmul Shanto’s heroics

Meanwhile, Pakistan regretted their decision to bowl first in the first Test as Bangladesh put up a strong total in the first innings. At lunch on Day 2, the hosts had 380 runs on the board at the loss of 7 wickets.

Captain Najmul Shanto led from the front, scoring a century while Mominul Haque scored 91 off 200 balls. The duo stitched up a 170-run partnership for the third wicket.

Interestingly, Bangladesh are still not done yet. Even after the breakthrough, Mushfiqur Rahman is unbeaten on 71 and is expected to add crucial runs to ensure his team finishes on a high first innings total.

Pakistan’s struggles with the ball exposed

After Pakistan opted to bowl first, the visitors made an encouraging start through Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali, reducing Bangladesh to 31/2 inside the opening session.

However, the momentum shifted dramatically as Mominul and Shanto stitched together a massive 170-run partnership that completely stabilised the innings and exposed Pakistan’s struggles on a slow Mirpur surface.

Mohammad Abbas, however, was a ray of hope for Pakistan as he picked up 4 wickets for 73 runs in 31 overs. However, spinners Salman Agha and Noman Ali were ordinary in absence of Sajid Khan.

With four days of play still left in the game, Pakistan must bowl out Bangladesh as soon as possible and ensure the batters perform at their absolute best in the second innings.

Interestingly, Pakistan are already a key batter short as Babar Azam was ruled out of the game hours before the toss due to an undisclosed injury. Hence, the rest of the squad will have to step up and fill his void.
