Bangladesh trumped Pakistan in the first Test to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series at home. After setting up a sporting target of 268 on the final day, the hosts folded up the famed Pakistan batting line-up for just 163 in less than two sessions at the Sher-e Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

The outcome also marked Bangladesh’s third successive Test victory over Pakistan, after clinching their previous away series against them by a 2-0 margin back in August 2024. As one can expect, the historic occasion sparked a wave of congratulatory messages for the Bangladesh team.

It also opened the floodgates to some hilarious memes at the expense of the Shan Masood-led Pakistan side.

Fans troll Mohammad Rizwan and co. for shambolic defeat to Bangladesh

Pakistan crumbled out for just 163 in 52.5 overs on the final day of their first Test against hosts Bangladesh in Mirpur on Tuesday, May 12. Playing in the absence of injured senior batter Babar Azam, only one player managed to score a half-century in the decisive innings.

Several Indian as well as Pakistan cricket fans took this opportunity to troll the Shan Masood-led side for their dismal effort with the bat on Day 5. Some fans also singled out senior wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan for his shambolic leave off Nahid Rana that led to his dismissal.

Here is a look at some of the fans expressing their reaction to Pakistan’s Test defeat in the series-opener.

A lookback at Pakistan’s big collapse

Bangladesh batted at nearly 4.50 runs an over on Day 5 to stretch its overnight total of 152-3 to 240-9d in 70.3 overs. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scored in the innings with his 87-run knock from 150 balls.

In response, Pakistan lost opener Imam-ul-Haq in the first over but the visitors recovered with a 54-run partnership between debutant Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal. The latter of the two also scored the lone half-century of the innings.

Despite reaching 119-3, the Pakistan team lost its final seven wickets for just 44 runs to crumble out for just 163. With the likes of Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel failing to convert their starts, Bangladesh won the match by 104 runs.

Fast bowler Nahid Rana picked up five wickets in the innings at an expense of just 40 runs from his end.

A lot to ponder for Pakistan

After failing to defeat South Africa at home last October, the Pakistan team has now been blown away by Bangladesh in Mirpur to go 0-1 down in the two-match Test series.

With just a solitary win in three matches, Pakistan is ranked sixth on the WTC 2025-27 rankings with a PCT of 33.33.

On a trail of three successive Test defeats to Bangladesh, Shan Masood and co. will now take on hosts in the second match of the series starting later this week. The match will be hosted by the Sylhet international Cricket Stadium in Sylhet between May 16 and May 20.
