Vaibhav Sooryavanshi registered yet another failure, this time against Sri Lanka A in match number four of the Tri-Nation series in the island nation. The blistering Rajasthan Royals opener scored just 21 off 14 balls for India A with three boundaries and a six.

Even in the resultant Super Over, the attacking left-hander failed to take India A past Sri Lanka A. Failing to justify his selection in India A and Indian national squads after his IPL 2026 riches, the 15-year-old continues to draw flak from several Indian cricket fans online.

Moreover, even Sooryavanshi’s off-the-field repertoire has now drawn criticism from fans, following his outburst against Sri Lanka A players and with the match officials.

As seen in the viral video circulating on social media, the 15-year-old can even be spotted getting physical with a certain Sri Lanka A cricketer. While fans and several cricket experts have since expressed their criticism towards the India A opener, certain online users also came in defense of the teenager, citing that he was allegedly provoked by Sri Lanka A players. Here is a look at some of the fans expressing their reaction towards Sooryavanshi for his ugly on-field incident on Monday, June 15.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Pushes Tilak Varma Amid Umpire Argument

Earlier in the match, the Indian youngster also pushed his captain Tilak Varma when the latter was having an intense chat with the on-field umpire. The 15-year-old seemingly attempted to prevent an argument from escalating further.

It is worth noting that after the dramatic tie between India A and Sri Lanka A in Dambulla, the Indian camp argued with the umpires and apparently forced them to stage the ‘Super Over’. The umpires were initially hesitant in carrying on with the tie-breaker owing to bad light at the iconic venue.

Sri Lanka beats India in ‘sunset’ Super Over

Even though the India A camp fought for a Super Over, hosts Sri Lanka A walked away with the spoils of an intense thriller between the two sides.

Earlier, India A batted first and folded up for just 265, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scoring just 21. Half-centuries from Suryansh Shedge and Vipraj Nigam catapulted the Indian total after they slipped to 143-7 at one stage.

In response, a tight final over from Arshad Khan restricted Sri Lanka to 265-9 in 50 overs, before the visitors fumbled up and failed to chase down 17 runs in the self-demanded Super Over. Tilak Varma and co. will now face Afghanistan on June 17 in a must-win game.
