India A suffered a heartbreaking defeat against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla after a thrilling contest ended in a tie and was eventually decided in a Super Over. The match also witnessed controversy surrounding a delayed no-ball call.
The defeat denied India A an opportunity to strengthen their position in the tri-nation series standings. With the dramatic loss now behind them, the team's attention quickly shifts towards securing a place in the tournament final.
How Can India A Qualify For Tri-Series Final?
India A entered the Tri Nation A Series with plenty of expectations, especially with teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi attracting significant attention. They began their campaign positively with a victory over Sri Lanka A but have since struggled to maintain momentum.
Back-to-back defeats against Afghanistan A and Sri Lanka A have left India A in a difficult position. They currently sit second in the points table with just one win from three matches and face a must-win situation.

India A Tri-Series Final Qualification Chances If They Lose To Afghanistan A
India A's chances of reaching the tri-series final will effectively come to an end if they lose their final league-stage match against Afghanistan A. Having already suffered a defeat to the same opposition earlier in the tournament, another loss would leave them out.
The Tilak Varma-led side currently has just one win from three matches and cannot afford another setback. A defeat would leave India A with only one victory from four games, making qualification mathematically impossible.

If Afghanistan A secure another win over India A, their win tally will rise to two while India A remain stranded near the bottom of the standings. Such a result would officially eliminate India A from the tri-series final race and bring their campaign to an early end.
India A Tri-Series Final Qualification Chances If They Beat Afghanistan A
India A will keep their tri-series final hopes alive if they defeat Afghanistan A in their final league-stage fixture. The victory would take them to two wins from four matches and ensure they remain firmly in contention for a place in the tri-series final.
The upcoming encounter also presents an opportunity for India A to make things equal for their earlier defeat to Afghanistan A. Having lost the first meeting between the two sides, Tilak Varma's men will be eager to level the head-to-head record.
A win would leave India A dependent on other results and potentially net run rate to determine the final qualification picture. However, securing two points against Afghanistan A is the first and most important requirement if they are to stay alive for the tri-series final.
India A Tri-Series Final Qualification Chances If Afghanistan A Beat Sri Lanka A
India A's qualification hopes will remain alive if they defeat Afghanistan A in their final league-stage match. However, the race for the tri-series final could become complicated if Afghanistan A subsequently manage to beat Sri Lanka A.
In that scenario, both India A and Afghanistan A would finish with two wins each, bringing net run-rate into the equation. India A currently hold a healthy advantage with an NRR of +0.330 compared to Afghanistan A's -1.392.
Afghanistan A would therefore need a massive victory over Sri Lanka A to overturn the NRR deficit and move ahead. A narrow win may not be enough, but a convincing triumph could eliminate India A or even Sri Lanka A to secure qualification.
