The IPL 2026 Eliminator clash between the Rajasthan Royals and the Sunrisers Hyderabad saw one of the finest IPL knocks ever as the wonder kid Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was in midas touch in New Chandigarh.
After being put in to bat first, Sooryavanshi went hammer and tongs from the word go and was en route to score the fastest IPL century ever, beating Christ Gayle’s long-standing record of a 30-ball century. However, SRH pacer Praful Hinge had other plans, as he stopped the southpaw from reaching a landmark by dismissing him for the second time this season.
Hinge went on to do an animated celebration, which irked the fans after what they had witnessed and called him out on social media out of anger.
Hinge’s celebration sparks outrage after Sooryavanshi misses record ton
The incident happened at the end of the 8th over, when Sooryavanshi had two balls and 3 runs to score to beat Chris Gayle’s record of a 30-ball IPL century. But against the run of play, Praful Hinge once again bowled a short ball like their encounter in Hyderabad, and the ball went straight up in the air to R Smaran, and Sooryavanshi missed the landmark.
The bowler went on to perform an animated celebration and was seen laughing at the 15-year-old upon the catch completion. This was not the first time someone had celebrated Sooryavanhi’s wicket with such passion — one such occurrence also happened after Kyle Jamieson clean bowled the batter and went up to his face.
Contrary to the Jamieson situation, this was after Sooryavanshi had scored 27 off 6 in that over before being dismissed. The fans noted it and reacted angrily towards the bowler.

Sooryvanshi vs Hinge continues to heat up
The Eliminator clash between the sides is the third time SRH and RR are meeting in IPL 2026, and all three times the Vaibhav Sooryavanshi vs Praful Hinge match-up has been exciting. On debut, Hinge dismissed the batter on a duck in Hyderabad.
As a revenge, when they met again, Sooryavanshi ripped Hinge to shreds and scored 30 from his 9 balls, including 4 sixes in an over. He went on to score 103 off 37 with 12 sixes and 5 fours in that match.

Sooryavanshi’s head start puts RR in the driver’s seat
At the time when Sooryavanshi’s carnage ended at the end of the 8th over, the scorecard read an incredible score of 125/1, out of which 97 were made by him. Following up his good work, Dhruv Jurel also scored 50 in 21 balls with 5 fours and three sixes.
Captain Riyan Parag looked to enter the slog overs with a big hit down the ground off Hinge, but was caught on the fence by Heinrich Klaasen. At the end of 16 overs, the score reads 215/4, and Hinge finished his spell with 3/54 (4).
