On Wednesday, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi nearly scripted history as the 15-year-old was moments away from scripting the fastest hundred in IPL. Notably, the RR youngster was batting on 97 (28), which is when he got out and missed out on shattering Chris Gayle’s record.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played the innings of his life and received a standing ovation when he returned to the dug-out. It is not every day that a batter comes close to breaking Chris Gayle’s 30-ball hundred. The 15-year-old had a chance and squandered it, resulting in heartbreak.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Dejected After Dismissal
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, too, knew that he had the chance to script history. However, he went ahead with his fearless approach and paid the price. After getting out, the 15-year-old stood at the crease in silence, all dejected.
He nearly broke into tears, but somehow kept himself composed and slammed his helmet in anger. He took forever to return to the dugout, but was amused by the rousing reception from the fans at the Mullanpur Stadium, who were on their feet to appreciate the 15-year-old.

Kavya Maran Reacts To Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Dismissal
After Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got out, the camera panned to SRH owner Kavya Maran, who was in the stands also dejected by the damage done from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. However, she too gave slow claps and appreciated Sooryavanshi's knock in the most unique manner.
The internet was divided by her reaction as some remarked that the SRH owner was forced to appreciate Sooryavanshi to not come out as a bad figure. The other section saw that as a sign of disappointment from her own team who somehow gave the match away in the first 10 overs itself.
For the unversed, Kavya Maran also hogged the internet after SRH vs CSK match, where she too was captured gesturing the CSK fans to go home, following Ishan Kishan's footsteps, who faced the flak for same reason.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Breaks Plethora Of Records With Sensational Knock
Despite not reaching the century, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi didn't spare the record books and scripted several feats with the bat. Firstly, the youngster shattered Chris Gayle's record for most sixes in a single IPL season.
The southpaw slammed 12 sixes and now has 65 sixes, six more than Chris Gayle, who slammed 59 maximums for RCB back in 2012.
