In a moment of sheer embarrassment, Indian cricketer KL Rahul's wife, Athiya Shetty, made an unforgivable blunder that left the internet enraged.
On April 12, legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92. She breathed her last at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital due to multi-organ failure after being admitted for exhaustion and a chest infection.
Following her demise, fans and well-wishers paid tribute across social media. However, Athiya Shetty’s mishap was something the internet did not forgive.

Like many other cricketers and celebrities, Athiya Shetty took to her Instagram handle to pay tribute to the late Asha Bhosle. However, her post landed her in trouble. Posting around 3:30 pm IST, Athiya shared a picture of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar instead of Asha Bhosle.
The image showed a young Lata Mangeshkar reading a letter in a black-and-white photograph, which Athiya posted on her Instagram story with folded hands. Apparently, she mistook Lata Mangeshkar for Asha Bhosle, but the internet quickly spotted the error.

As soon as the story went public, fans took screenshots and created a massive backlash over the Indian cricketer's wife's mistake. However, such confusion is not entirely uncommon, especially among people less familiar with the two legends.

Many often mix up Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle due to similarities in their voice texture, training, and even their early physical appearances.
The Nightingale sisters ruled the golden era of Bollywood music and were born into a Marathi family, growing up together with the same musical training.
Despite this, the internet was ruthless toward Athiya Shetty, with fans heavily criticising her online. She later deleted the Instagram story, which is no longer available for public viewing.
The KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty story
Meanwhile, KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty officially tied the knot in January 2023. After dating since 2019, the couple kept their relationship private for the first few years before making it public in 2021.
The duo now have a child named Evaarah Rahul, born on March 24, 2023. Since then, Athiya Shetty has taken a break from her acting career to focus on motherhood, while KL Rahul continues to perform on the cricket field.
