The Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchise has become the first team to crack down on unnecessary attention as they have asked their pacer Arshdeep Singh, who loved vlogging during his time with the team in the IPL, to stop doing so until the IPL 2026 season ends, as a journalist has claimed.

This step comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Thursday, May 7, released a few pointers for all the ten franchises and players in the Indian Premier League in an attempt to tighten the rules and regulations.

BCCI restricts several activities of IPL franchises and players

In a letter to the ten Indian Premier League franchises, the BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia urged them to tighten the following of the rules and regulations of the tournament. He stated that the BCCI has been notified that several of the teams and players are openly breaking rules and regulations to suit themselves.

BCCI has restricted the players from taking their families and friends to their hotel rooms, with the meeting to be held in designated areas in hotels. No unauthorized personnel can meet players in the hotel or in their rooms.

The franchise owners and officials are barred from contacting the player or the team management in dressing rooms or dugouts during match days.

Punjab Kings bans Arshdeep Singh from vlogging

Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal, who are both playing for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the current IPL 2026, are the most recent names in the spotlight. It has been stated that IPL clubs have begun to become extremely stringent regarding players' social media activity and personal content.

According to journalist Abhishek Tripathi, Arshdeep Singh's IPL team, Punjab Kings (PBKS), has instructed him to cease vlogging for the remainder of the season. Singh is well-liked by fans for his entertaining vlogs and behind-the-scenes videos on YouTube and other social media platforms.

Fans like to peek inside the PBKS tale during the IPL season, and the left-arm pacer's films typically feature travel, team fun, and dressing room events. But now since the PBKS wants to be cautious about what is released online to prevent controversy, they have forbidden Arshdeep from doing the same.

This is also because Yuzvendra Chahal was seen vaping in the airplane when Arshdeep Singh shared a video of his vlog on social media.

Delhi Capitals to tighten social media rules for players, their families

Not only Punjab Kings but also Delhi Capitals have reportedly joined the bandwagon and have become serious about discipline and social media usage. DC has given clear instructions to players, support staff, and even their families regarding what to post and share on social media.

As per the journo, DC has allowed filming for personal memories inside team hotels or team areas but needs to wait until the IPL season ends before sharing things online.

Meanwhile, both teams are looking to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs. While Punjab Kings have one foot in the top four, having won 6 games out of 10 and having 13 points to their name. Two more wins in their last four games will ensure their qualification for the playoffs.

Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, have tumbled down the points table in IPL 2026. They have 4 wins from 10 games and have 8 points to their name. They will need to win all of their remaining games to get to 14 points and hope that other teams lose a few as well.
