Hyderabad Kings will be taking on Multan Sultans in match number eight of the PSL 2026 season. The match will be hosted by the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday, April 1 and the action will commence from 7:30 PM IST onwards.
The match will mark the third fixture for the Kingsmen, and only the second outing for the Multan Sultans this PSL 2026 season.
Hyderabad Kingsmen vs Multan Sultans Preview
Hyderabad Kingsmen, under the leadership of Marnus Labuschagne, started off their PSL 2026 campaign with two demoralizing defeats. They suffered a huge 69-run defeat against Lahore Qalandars in the opening match of the tournament, and followed it up with another 40-run thrashing, this time at the hands of Quetta Gladiators.
With two losses in two games, the Hyderabad Kingsmen franchise is currently placed at the bottom of the eight-team PSL 2026 points table.
The Multan Sultans, on the other hand, is placed among the top four sides of the competition at the moment. With Ashton Turner at the helm, the Sultans defeated Islamabad United by five wickets this past weekend.

Openers and Top Order: Saim Ayub, Maaz Sadaqat, Marnus Labuschagne
The Hyderabad Kingsmen management will likely stick with its young opening combination of Saim Ayub and Maaz Sadaqat, despite their recent struggles in the ongoing PSL 2026 season.
On a trail of some underwhelming returns, Ayub is certainly due for a big score and the blistering top-order batter holds a staggering PSL strike rate of 145.62. The young Pakistani all-rounder can also lend his arm to bowl four quality overs of spin.

Maaz Sadaqat, aged 20, is another quality batting all-rounder who warrants a place in the Kingsmen XI. Captain Marnus Labuschagne will resume his number three batting position, especially after punching out a couple of confident starts in his past two games.
Middle Order and All Rounders: Kusal Perera, Syed Saad Ali, Irfan Khan, Hassan Khan, Hammad Azam
Sri Lanka wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Perera will likely make his return into the Hyderabad Kingsmen XI after the twin failures of Usman Khan. With an experience of over 200 T20 matches and nearly 100 T20Is for Sri Lanka, Perera’s explosive pyro techniques and experience will add stability to the Kingsmen middle order.
Syed Saad Ali will retain his place in the XI as a middle-order batter. The 32-year-old can anchor the Kingsmen innings in the middle overs in case of an early collapse.
Irfan Khan and Hassan Khan, multi-utility players with all-round potential, will continue to bat at number six and seven, especially after their quick 30-run cameos against Gladiators a few days ago.
Hassan even delivered a wicket-taking spell in the opening match of PSL 2026 through his left-arm spin, while Irfan can be tasked to bowl an occasional over.
Hammad Azam will bat at number eight and serve as yet another all-rounder for his side. Yet to be fully explored in PSL, the 35-year-old has taken 75 wickets in his T20 career and has scored nearly 1,500 runs at a strike rate of 124.59.
Bowlers: Maheesh Theekshana, Riley Meredith, Akif Javed
Sri Lanka spin wizard Maheesh Theekshana started off his PSL 2026 season with a tight spell against Quetta Gladiators. Set to reprise his role as Kingsmen’s specialist spinner, he will be joined by Australian pacer Riley Meredith and Pakistan fast bowler Akif Javed in the tail.
Meredith has taken over 200 wickets in his T20 career, and is also one of the leading wicket-takers of the PSL 2026 season with five scalps in just two innings. Javed has also delivered quality spells for his side off late.
