On Tuesday, March 31, Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans squared off at the Mullanpur Stadium in match 4 of IPL 2026. The Shreyas Iyer-led side will finally kickstart their campaign after a long wait despite finishing as runners-up in IPL 2025.
For the toss, two captains- Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer walked out for the coin flip. The luck favoured Punjab Kings captain, who eventually opted to field first.
Talking about the playing XIs of both teams - Cooper Connolly, Marcos Jansen, Marcus Stoinis and Xavier Bartlett are the overseas options. For Gujarat Titans, Glenn Phillips returns to the league after three years. Further, Ashok Sharma has been handed his IPL debut.

Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings Captain): "[Toss decision and reason] We are going to bowl first. I firmly believe that chasing gives you an idea how to go about your target. We chased well last year, thinking that I wanted to bowl.
"Honestly, we had a phenomenal last year. The only message I gave the boys is go out there and express yourself. The more they do that, the better position we will be in. "
Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans Captain): "Very good. The wicket looks pretty good. Yes, it has been under covers for a couple of days. Rain has been around, it has been a bit cloudy. When we came here today, it looked like a good wicket. It should be good to bat on.
"I think, even last year, we had a very successful season for us. Glenn (Phillips) is making his debut for us. Ashok Sharma is also making his debut for us. 4 overseas players are Jos Buttler, Glenn Phillips, Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada."
