Bangladesh is set to take on Pakistan in the second Test of the two-match series starting Saturday, May 16. Bangladesh won the first Test and lead the series 1-0.
They now aim to win the series by securing the second Test, which will be played at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium and is scheduled to start at 9:30 AM IST.

Bangladesh were absolutely clinical, especially with the ball, winning the first Test by 104 runs. With an in-form squad in both batting and bowling, they will be eager to continue their dominance, seal the two-match series 2-0 and gain some important World Test Championship points.
Pakistan, on the other hand, must bounce back, especially with the bat, after failing in their second innings of the first Test. Pakistan will need a strong response to win and draw the two-match series, keeping the importance of World Test Championship points in their mind as well.
As Bangladesh looks to continue their winning form against Pakistan, we take a look at their expected playing XI for the second Test.
Bangladesh Playing XI vs Pakistan- 2nd Test 2026
Top Order: Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Tanzid Hasan, Mominul Haque
Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who had a disappointing outing in the first Test, will continue to open the innings for Bangladesh and will be eager to get back among the runs in Sylhet, where he has previously scored a century and averages 46.28.
His opening partner Shadman Islam is ruled out from the second Test due to injury, and Tanzid Hasan is expected to make his Test debut. The young batter brings a first-class average of 40.72 from 1,792 runs and could add fresh energy to the top-order.
Mominul Haque was outstanding in the first Test, narrowly missing a century with 91 runs and scoring two half-centuries. He remains the backbone of Bangladesh’s top-order at three, anchoring the innings and providing experience and stability.

Middle Order and All-Rounders: Najmul Hossain Shanto (C), Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das (WK), Mehidy Hasan Miraz
Najmul Hossain Shanto led from the front in the first Test, scoring a brilliant century. His composed innings provided stability to Bangladesh’s middle-order, and he will look to continue this form at four in Sylhet.
Mushfiqur Rahim, at five, brings his vast experience as the leading run-scorer in Test for Bangladesh. He scored a valuable 71 in the first innings of the opening Test. His calm presence and ability to anchor the innings remain vital for Bangladesh’s hopes of sealing the series.
Litton Das will take care of the wicket-keeping duties while batting at number 6, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz strengthens the all-round depth at 7. Miraz was outstanding with the ball in the first Test, claiming six wickets, including a first-innings fifer.
Bowlers: Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Nahid Rana
Taijul Islam, the lead left-arm spinner, will spearhead Bangladesh’s attack in Sylhet. He took four wickets in the first Test and is the leading wicket-taker at this venue, claiming 31 wickets at a 47 strike-rate, including three fifers.
The pace duo of Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain will share the new-ball duties. Both Taskin and Ebadot will be playing their first Test in Sylhet, while Nahid Rana is the third pacer in the attack, who took a match-winning fifer in the first Test, has thrived here before, with 11 wickets in three games.
