In the recent times, several cricketers from Bihar have made the state proud with their remarkable performances at different stages of the game. From Ishan Kishan to young prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, many names have put their hometowns on the map.

Acknowledging the same, Bihar’s newly appointed Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary felicitated a number of players from the state, including Ishan Kishan, Shakib Hussain, and Zeeshan Ansari.

Bihar Government honours Ishan Kishan for T20 WC 2026 heroics

Born in Patna, Ishan Kishan has staged a remarkable resurgence in recent times. He transitioned from losing his BCCI central contract in 2024 to becoming a key figure in India’s historic T20 World Cup-winning campaign.

His comeback has been driven by stellar performances for his domestic team, Jharkhand, and for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the the IPL.

It is worth noting that after being sidelined since 2023, Ishan earned his way back into the Indian T20 setup, most notably, his inclusion in the 2026 T20 World Cup squad. Throughout the tournament, he was extremely consistent for the Men in Blue.

He finished with 317 runs to his name from 9 innings, averaging 35.22 and boasting a strike rate of 193.29. Kishan provided the perfect stability for India while batting primarily at number 3.

The Bihar CM also wished Ishan the best for a successful career ahead, while keeping Bihar's name in the spotlight.

For the unversed, Ishan Kishan plays for Jharkhand, despite being born in Bihar, due to registration issues between the Bihar Cricket Association and the BCCI during his early career.

Sakib Hussain honoured after IPL 2026 stardom

Another player from Bihar, who has stepped into the limelight for a tremendous outing in the ongoing IPL 2026, Sakib Hussain, was also honoured along with Ishan Kishan.

21-year-old Hussain gained massive popularity for his magnificent four-fer on his IPL debut against Rajasthan Royals on April 13, 2026. Not just that, he has emerged as a standout pacer for the SRH.

Moreover, Hussain’s journey, shaped by hardship, sacrifice, and the quiet resolve of his family from Bihar’s Gopalganj district, is even more inspiring.

The story of the 19-year-old fast bowler gained widespread attention after an old interview video from his time with Kolkata Knight Riders resurfaced, reminding fans of the background he had to overcome to reach a stage like the IPL.

Further, SRH player Zeeshan Ansari was also among the players praised by the state government for his participation in the Indian Premier League

A right-arm leg-break bowler playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2026 edition, Zeeshan was retained by the franchise for the 2026 season following a strong domestic showing and an impressive 2025 debut, for which he was originally bought for ₹40 Lakh.
