The 19th edition of the IPL has reached its business end, and the BCCI has already begun preparing for the upcoming series after the cash-rich league. Notably, on Thursday, May 14, the apex cricket board of India released a 15-member India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in June.
For the unversed, India A will travel to Sri Lanka for a tri-series involving Sri Lanka A, India A, and Afghanistan A. It will be a 50-over tournament. It will begin on June 9, approximately just over a week after the end of IPL 2026.
India A Squad For Tri-Series Involving Sri Lanka and Afghanistan
Tilak Varma (Captain), Priyansh Arya, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Riyan Parag (Vice-Captain), Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh (WK), Kumar Kushagra (WK), Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Anshul Kamboj, Arshad Khan
Now, interestingly, the tri-series will go on from June 9-21. Further, India’s tour of the UK, which features a series against Ireland and England, starts on June 26. Therefore, it also means that the players who are part of the tri-series squad are unlikely to get a place in the Ireland or England tour.

India’s Alternate Squad For Ireland And England Tour
Batters: Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Sai Sudharsan, Shreyas Iyer, Naman Dhir, Rinku Singh
Among the batters, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson are likely to be the primary openers. Shubman Gill has been performing well in IPL 2026, but the management will go ahead with their trusted performers, who won the T20 World Cup for India.
As a back-up opener, Sai Sudharsan is likely to get the go ahead. Notably, the southpaw became the first player in IPL 2026 to breach the 500 run mark. Further, Sai, who won the orange cap last year, is one of the most consistent players in the tournament.
Shreyas Iyer will return to the T20I setup after 3 years and will also lead the side. Notably, he might also replace Suryakumar Yadav as next India T20I captain.
Rest, Naman Dhir and Angkrish Raghuvanshi are likely to earn their maiden India call-up courtesy of a great IPL 2026 season.
All Rounders: Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel
Among the all-rounders, Axar Patel has not had the best of seasons, but given his performance for India, the left-arm spinner will get a place to prove his mettle against Ireland and England. Further, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar will lead the all-rounders category.
NKR has had a brilliant season for SRH as the youngster has worked on his bowling and has already picked up 7 wickets in 11 innings.
Bowlers: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Prince Yadav, Kartik Tyagi, Mohammed Siraj, Ravi Bishnoi
In the bowling category, every player included will make their India return or a maiden call-up. Notably, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has not played a solitary match for the Men in Blue since 2022, will return to the Indian team.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has already picked up 22 wickets in 12 innings. Further, Prince Yadav has been impressive as well with the new ball for Lucknow Super Giants. Rest, Mohammed Siraj, Ravi Bishnoi, and Kartik Tyagi will also return to the national set-up.
