Lucknow Super Giants - (Source: AFP)
On Friday, May 15, Lucknow Super Giants will host Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026 match 59. It is a reverse fixture as the two teams met recently in Chepauk, where the Rishabh Pant-led side became the first team to crash out of IPL 2026.
LSG have nothing to lose, but they will play for pride as they sit 10th on the table with just three wins in the entire tournament. For Chennai Super Kings, they have everything on the line as they are still alive in the tournament and can qualify for the playoffs.
LSG vs CSK Preview
For Chennai Super Kings, they have dealt a heavy blow as their star player, Jamie Overton has been ruled out of the tournament. The five-time winners roped in Dian Foresster as their replacement. Rest, MS Dhoni will not play as he is yet to recover from his calf injury.
LSG, on the other hand, will make several changes to their playing XI as they need to start preparing for the next season. Therefore, this article will shed light on Lucknow Super Giants’ strongest playing XI vs CSK for IPL 2026 match 59.
LSG Likely Playing XI vs CSK- Match 59
Openers and Top Order (Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis, Nicholas Pooran)
In the top order, LSG are unlikely to make any changes to their playing XI. Mitchell Marsh will open the innings with Josh Inglis. The duo stitched a 77-run stand for the first innings.
Further, Nicholas Pooran will also retain his place in the team, despite scoring a solitary run against Chennai Super Kings in the last match.

Middle Order and All Rounders ( Rishabh Pant, Aiden Markram, Ayush Badoni, Mukul Choudhary)
LSG are likely to make a few changes in the middle-order. Rishabh Pant, being the captain, will retain his place. Further, Aiden Markram has been unlucky in this edition and there is no reason to kick South Africa international out of the team.
The two changes LSG can make in the middle-order is to bring back Ayush Badoni and Mukul Choudhary. Notably, Ayush Badoni has not played a single match in May. Overall, he has played 8 matches and scored 172 runs, which includes a solitaty fifty-plus score.
Shedding light on Mukul Choudhary, the youngster rose to fame after his blistering knock against KKR. However, since then he failed to impress and eventually went out of scheme of things. It is likely that Mukul Choudhary return to the playing XI.
Bowlers (Arjun Tendulkar, Mohammed Shami, Prince Yadav, Akash Singh)
In the bowling, Mohammed Shami and Prince Yadav have been the two best bowlers for LSG. Mohsin Khan's injury has ruined plans for the Rishabh Pant-led side. Therefore, Arjun Tendulkar and Akash Singh are likely to play their first IPL games of the season.
Arjun Tendulkar can add batting depth, while Akash Singh is known for his brilliance in the powerplay and at the death.
