However, Shreyas Iyer and co. coped six demoralizing losses in a row next up to nearly fall out of the playoffs reckoning. The team finally snapped its six-match losing streak by thrashing a struggling LSG unit on May 23 in Lucknow. Even off the field, the franchise has sustained much criticism from fans, especially after Arshdeep Singh was found ‘racially’ targeting Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma. PBKS’ fate hinges on Rajasthan Royals result For Punjab Kings to become the fourth side to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs, fans of the franchise will be hoping for the Rajasthan Royals to lose their final league match against the Mumbai Indians on May 24 in Mumbai. Moreover, if the Royals ended up losing the match, Punjab Kings fans will also hope that KKR does not win its impending fixture against Delhi Capitals by a big-enough margin. If both results go in their favor, the franchise will secure a playoff berth despite losing track in the second half of the season. After all, the franchise went from looking like genuine title contenders to depending on other results for a spot in the playoffs following their mid-season collapse.
