Punjab Kings crushed LSG by seven wickets in match 68 of the IPL 2026 season on Saturday, May 23. The outcome marked Punjab Kings’ first win in nearly a month, after taking field at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium on a trail of six successive defeats.

Still in contention for a place in the playoffs, Punjab Kings only have themselves to blame for falling out of the top-two race, as the franchise squandered its sublime start to the season.

Several players from the franchise, including controversial fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, have now received a brutal scolding from former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh.

Yuvraj Singh threatens to “hit” Arshdeep Singh and co.

Shortly after Punjab Kings’ comprehensive win over LSG in match 68 of the IPL 2026 season, star spinner Harpreet Brar posted an Instagram photo of himself alongside ‘slogger’ Priyansh Arya’ and ‘vlogger’ Arshdeep Singh.

Former Punjab Kings captain Yuvraj Singh himself took note of the joyful post on the file-sharing app, and threatened to ‘hit’ the players with slippers.

The champion Indian cricketer wrote “Tuhade sariyan de chapalan da time ho gaya hai hun!” (It’s time to hit you guys with slippers)

While Yuvraj Singh seemingly made the comment in a light-hearted and humorous manner, the former Indian all-rounder may well be frustrated with Punjab Kings’ dramatic slump in form this IPL 2026 season.

For starters, the legendary Indian cricketer has coached current Punjab Kings openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya. Moreover, Yuvraj also spent a major part of his IPL career for the franchise, back when they were known as Kings XI Punjab.

IPL 2026: A season of controversies for Punjab Kings

The Punjab Kings franchise started off the IPL 2026 season by recording six wins and a no-result from its first seven games. However, Shreyas Iyer and co. coped six demoralizing losses in a row next up to nearly fall out of the playoffs reckoning.

The team finally snapped its six-match losing streak by thrashing a struggling LSG unit on May 23 in Lucknow.

Even off the field, the franchise has sustained much criticism from fans, especially after Arshdeep Singh was found ‘racially’ targeting Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma. Moreover, the social media team of the franchise has also faced intense backlash, especially from RCB fans following their controversial ‘49’ post last month.

PBKS’ fate hinges on Rajasthan Royals result

For Punjab Kings to become the fourth side to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs, fans of the franchise will be hoping for the Rajasthan Royals to lose their final league match against the Mumbai Indians on May 24 in Mumbai.

Moreover, if the Royals ended up losing the match, Punjab Kings fans will also hope that KKR does not win its impending fixture against Delhi Capitals by a big-enough margin. If both results go in their favor, the franchise will secure a playoff berth despite losing track in the second half of the season.

Conclusion

While Yuvraj Singh’s criticism appeared to be delivered in a playful tone, the former Indian all-rounder may have valid reasons to express his frustration towards Punjab Kings players.

After all, the franchise went from looking like genuine title contenders to depending on other results for a spot in the playoffs following their mid-season collapse.
