They say, catches win you matches, and someone has to remind the Punjab Kings dugout, as the fearsome side is in the limelight, but not for good reasons. You can score truckloads of runs, and can bowl a magical delivery, but if the fielder is not supportive, you will lose the match.

This is exactly what’s taking place with the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab side, as their buttery hands have not helped their cause, and the team has dropped numerous simple chances on the field.

Several Punjab Kings players have dropped simple chances, but there is one fielder who has been at the centre of attraction, Shashank Singh. The PBKS all-rounder has been slammed for his poor fielding standards in the ongoing IPL 2026, but nothing has improved as he once again dropped a dolly in the SRH Vs PBKS match.

Chahal goes in shock as Shashank Singh drops a dolly

The Aussie player, Cooper Connolly, was the first one to miss a sitter in the SRH Vs PBKS IPL match, and it was followed by a schoolboy error from none other than, Shashank.

Yuzvendra Chahal, the leg-break bowler, delivered a tossed-up ball as Heinrich Klaasen, the dangerous batter, swept one hard, but he mistimed it. The ball went straight into the hands of Shashank Singh at deep backward square leg, but the fielder spilled the catch as the ball went past the ropes.

The SRH batter got another chance, and Chahal looked especially upset with how his team was fielding. The PBKS spinner sat on the ground, holding his head in disbelief, almost crying from inside.

Not the first time Shashank was at the crime scene in IPL

The PBKS fielder dropped one of the easiest chances to provide a lifeline to Klaasen, but this is not the first time he has been at the crime scene in the ongoing IPL 2026. It was in the LSG Vs PBKS match where the 34-year-old became the villain.

Not one, not two, but the Punjab player dropped three easy chances as Shreyas Iyer, and Ricky Ponting got frustrated with him. Neither of the three chances was difficult as Aiden Markram, and Mukul Choudhary got respite, all thanks to Shashank.

Luckily, by the time he made costly mistakes, the match was over as LSG were well out of the equation to chase a big total.

PBKS made to pay as Shashank drops Klaasen

It was in the ninth over when the PBKS fielder handed Klaasen a lifeline in this crucial IPL contest. He had scored just nine runs when Shashank decided to help the Sunrisers batter with his poor fielding, and the SRH batter made them pay with a scintillating knock.

Alongside Ishan Kishan, Klaasen attacked the PBKS bowlers and made a mockery of their attack. He smashed quickfire runs, and each run reminded Shashank of the mistake that he had made early in the innings.

At the time of writing, the SRH middle-order batter was playing at 38 off 27, with the Orange Army aiming to cross the 200-run mark.
