The India vs New Zealand third ODI is set to be played at Indore’s Holkar Stadium. With the series tied at 1-1, Virat Kohli once again proved why fans fondly call him “King.” In a heart-touching moment, Virat Kohli acknowledged one of his fans outside the Rajkot airport as he was preparing to leave for Indore.
Virat Kohli has often been greeted by fans as a king, with supporters even placing an imaginary crown on his head in admiration of his aura and larger-than-life presence.
Virat Kohli and his interaction with the fans
Since 2025 and into 2026, Kohli has continued to share several viral and heartwarming moments with fans. Earlier in January this year, a fan breached multiple layers of security to reach him on the field at the Rajkot game. Kohli was seen embracing the fan and later signalled the security personnel to go easy on him.
A few days before that, ahead of the first ODI in Vadodara, Kohli warmly greeted “Mini Kohli” or “Chhota Cheeku,” a young 8-year-old fan named Garvit who closely resembled Kohli’s childhood self.
He signed a mini bat and a jersey for the boy and also inspired net bowlers with motivational and tactical speeches during practice sessions ahead of the 1st ODI.
Virat Kohli wins hearts with sweet gesture for physically disabled fan
Ahead of the third ODI scheduled for January 18, Kohli was heading to the airport to board his flight to Indore on January 15.
Before entering the terminal, amid a heavy crowd and tight security, Kohli, wearing the blue Indian team jacket and black aviators, noticed a physically challenged fan seated on a chair.
The video went viral on social media as fans lauded Virat Kohli’s sweet gesture.
The fan, draped in the Indian flag, was calling out Kohli’s name and holding up a mini bat for an autograph. Kohli immediately stopped, took the marker from the fan’s hand, signed the bat, and acknowledged him with a gentle handshake. After the brief yet emotional interaction, Kohli continued towards the airport entrance.
Virat Kohli back in peak form since Test and T20I retirement
On the cricketing front, Kohli has been a nightmare for opposition bowlers during his recent purple patch in ODI cricket. After retiring from Test and T20I formats, he made a strong comeback during the India-Australia tour, scoring a superb 74 in the third ODI.
In the South Africa series, Kohli showcased his class with back-to-back centuries in the first two ODIs, followed by a solid 65 in the final match. During the BCCI-mandated Vijay Hazare Trophy appearances, he once again displayed his dominance with knocks of 131 and 77.
Continuing his impressive List A form, Kohli tormented New Zealand in the first ODI with a fluent 93 off 91 balls. However, he faltered in the second ODI, managing only 23 runs before being dismissed by Kristian Clarke.
Despite that setback, Kohli enters the third ODI in Indore with an impressive average of 58 in the series and will be eager to continue his rich vein of form.
