Sarfaraz Khan answered his fitness critique in some style as the Mumbai player took an unreal catch in the Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Railways on Thursday. While Mumbai defeated Railways in a one-sided battle, Sarfaraz was the star, not with the bat, but with the ball.

The 42-time Ranji Trophy winners, Mumbai, were on the back foot as Eshaan Goyal (103) and No. 7 batter Zubair Ali (115) scored centuries and frustrated the Mumbai bowling attack. Railways needed 372 to win, and the batting duo kept their team in the hunt before Sarfaraz did the unthinkable.

Sarfaraz runs from first slip to break 167-run partnership

Eshaan and Zubair Ali added 167 runs, and Mumbai needed a breakthrough to clinch the win. The bowlers looked clueless before Sarfaraz took matters in his own hands.

Goyal, who had just reached the three-figure mark, attempted a sweep shot against Musheer Khan. However, he failed to get the connection as the ball took the top edge and was about to fall into no man’s land.

Interestingly, Sarfaraz had already anticipated the shot as even before the batter connected with the ball, the Mumbai fielder sprinted towards the leg slip, and he dived at full stretch to grab an unbelievable catch.

The catch broke the Railways' backbone as they lost their last 5 wickets for just 15 runs, and he helped the team win the game by 106 runs.

How Sarfaraz performed in the Ranji Trophy match vs Railways

Mumbai batted first and scored 396 runs, and Sarfaraz was one of the best batters for the team, scoring 55 runs off 100 balls. He looked in ominous form before Adarsh Singh dismissed him.

In the second innings, the Mumbai batters aimed to score quick runs to set up a big target for Railways, and Sarfaraz played a quick cameo as he blasted 29 off 25 balls and remained unbeaten as Mumbai gave a challenging total to their opponent.

He did his part with the bat, but his biggest contribution came on the field, as his brilliant anticipation broke the Eshaan Goyal and Zubair Ali partnership.
