"50-50 chances" - Former SRH batter on Pat Cummins' availability for IPL 2027
With a busy 2027 for Australia, there is a possibility of SRH captain Pat Cummins missing the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
Former SRH batter Tirumalasetti Suman hinted at Cummins' possible absence, saying the four-player trade between CSK and SRH is the reason.
Suman, who was part of the IPL-winning Orange Army in 2016, said there's a 50-50 chance the Australian right-arm quick will feature next season.
“So, these 4 players didn’t perform in the IPL last year. But still, why did this trade happen? Because of both teams’ strengths and weaknesses. Looking at SRH, Pat Cummins’ availability is 50-50 for the IPL. So, I feel that this trade was compulsory to fill up that slot,” Tirumalasetti Suman said on his YouTube channel.
It is worth mentioning that Cummins missed the first half of the IPL 2026 due to his rehabilitation from a lumbar bone stress injury. In his absence, Ishan Kishan captained the side in their first six matches of the season.
Packed 2027 schedule awaits Australia, Pat Cummins
Team Australia is set to play a five-match Test series in India ahead of the IPL 2027. Then, the Ashes are scheduled for June-July that year. Moreover, if the Pat Cummins-led Aussies qualify, they could also play a WTC final just ahead of the Ashes.
Additionally, the 2027 World Cup, set to be played in October-November, will be a key assignment for Cummins and company, the defending champions.
Cummins, already chopping and choosing series to manage workloads, will likely look to miss a gruelling IPL season to last longer for a stressful 2027 season.
