Rohit Sharma Embarrasses Himself At Wankhede (Source: Screengrab from JioHotstar)
You don’t often see your admired icons dropping catches on the cricket field. However, on Saturday, it was Virat Kohli who dropped a simple catch during the RCB vs SRH IPL 2026 match, and a day later, his partner-in-crime Rohit Sharma gave him the company he won’t like to have.
The incident happened when the MI vs KKR IPL 2026 match took place at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Sunday.
AM Ghazanfar, the MI debutant, was bowling to Angkrish Raghuvanshi during the 15th over of KKR’s innings.
Rohit Sharma Drops A Dolly; Angkrish Raghuvanshi Survives
On the fifth delivery, Angkrish Raghuvanshi took the aerial route to play a lofted shot with an aim to clear the long-on. However, the timing was not right, and hence, the ball did not clear the boundary ropes.
It should have been an easy catch for Rohit Sharma, who was perfectly placed there. Unfortunately, the ball popped out of the former MI captain’s hand before it landed in front of the boundary cushions.
In the process, a simple catch turned into a boundary. Rohit seemed unhappy with the effort he had put in for the catch, as he threw the ball in disgust after the dropped chance.
Given the fact that Rohit is Wankhede's favourite, fondly called as 'Mumbai cha Raja', it was a very disappointing show while fielding from the veteran player.

KKR Close On 220/4 Vs MI At Wankhede
Riding on a fiery start from Finn Allen and Ajinkya Rahane, KKR got off to a perfect start in MI's own backyard. The IPL 2024 champions, after Hardik Pandya won the toss and asked them to bat first, raced to 69 runs in just 32 deliveries, which included an expensive 26-run over from the MI captain.
Cameron Green came to bat at No. 3, and he played aggressively throughout his 10-ball stay. Even though the INR 25.2 Crore buy only made 18 runs, he seemed settled and confident in the middle.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who came as a wicket-keeper for KKR in IPL 2026, batted beautifully. Laced with six fours and two sixes, Raghuvanshi made 51 runs off 29 deliveries, while newly-appointed vice-captain Rinku Singh remained unbeaten on 33, having faced 21 balls.
Eventually, KKR closed on 220/4, with Ramandeep Singh staying unbeaten with Rinku after a run-a-ball 4.
MI Have High Hopes On Rohit Sharma
If MI want to get the job done at Wankhede Stadium, the onus will be on Rohit to get them off to a flying start. Ryan Rickelton came to open the innings alongside the 38-year-old.
At the time of writing this, MI have begun the chase, with Rickelton and Rohit both getting off the mark with singles. MI are 2/0 after 0.2 over.
