The Kolkata Knight Riders' IPL 2026 opener against the Mumbai Indians turned historic for one of their stalwarts, Sunil Narine, as he began his 15th season with the franchise. He has also won three titles with them, contributing with both bat and ball.
The start of IPL 2026 meant Narine played his 190th IPL match for the Knight Riders, which beats his fellow Caribbean star, Kieron Pollard’s record IPL appearances for any overseas player in the 19 editions.

1. Sunil Narine - 190
Approaching his 200th KKR appearance, including the Champions League T20, Sunil Narine took the field for them for the 190th occasion in the IPL on Sunday, March 29.
During his time with the Knight Riders, he has picked 192 wickets ahead of the IPL 2026 with an impressive economy rate of 6.79 runs per over. Additionally, he has also scored a high impact 1780 runs at a strike rate of 166.51, including a century and seven fifties. He has won IPL 2012, 2014 and 2024 with the team.

2. Kieron Pollard – 189
Kieron Pollard, who has represented the Mumbai Indians in 189 matches, was one of the most feared finishers during his time in the league. Having started his IPL journey in 2009, he was an integral part of their five IPL title wins, scoring 3412 runs at a strike rate of 147.32, with 16 fifties to his name.
Interestingly, during his 189 IPL matches, he hit 223 sixes, which is five more than the number of IPL fours he hit (218). With the ball, he chipped in with 69 wickets in 107 innings, including the best of 4/44. He now serves as a support staff member for MI.
3. AB de Villiers – 184
Famously known for his time with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, AB de Villiers started his IPL career with the Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) and represented them in 28 matches. In IPL 2011 auctions, he was swooped up by the RCB and played all his remaining years of the IPL with them.
Before retiring at the end of IPL 2021, AB de Villiers scored a whopping 5162 IPL runs in 170 innings at a commendable strike rate of 151.68 with three centuries and 40 fifties. Ahead of IPL 2026, he is also the player with the most Player of the Match awards in league history.
4. David Warner – 184
One of the biggest overseas stars in IPL history, David Warner, is among the only three non-Indian captains to have won the title as a captain after Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist.
Much like AB de Villiers, he started his IPL career with the Capitals from 2009 to 2013 before moving to the Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he made his unique legacy. In 2016, he led them to the only title they have before parting ways with them in 2022, moving back to DC, where he spent his last three seasons.
In his 184 matches, Warner scored 6565 IPL runs, striking at 139.77 with four centuries and 62 fifties.
5. Dwayne Bravo – 161
The former IPL champion with the Chennai Super Kings, Dwayne Bravo, is among the most recognisable IPL stars from the 2010s. He started with the Mumbai Indians, playing 30 matches in the first three seasons with them before moving to CSK.
In 2016, he briefly moved to the Gujarat Lions due to a ban on CSK, but returned to the Yellow in 2018 and won two more trophies. Overall, he won the IPL 2011, 2018 and 2021 with the Chennai Super Kings, while making several more final appearances.
In his 161-match IPL career, he scored 1560 runs in 133 innings at a strike rate of 129.56, with five fifties to his name. With the ball, he picked 183 wickets, including two purple caps as a CSK player. He was a star death bowler for CSK, and his best figures read 4/22. Now he serves as a support staff member for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
