Technical glitches are a mandatory part of a tournament that caters to 50 cr+ viewers. However, there is something unprecedented that happened during the MI vs KKR IPL 2026 match on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to bug Rohit Sharma and his fans.

The match started with Kolkata Knight Riders coming into bat first after losing the toss. Hardik Pandya & Co. were on the field and as soon as Trent Boult came into bowl the first over, a glitch had Rohit Sharma opening the bowling for Mumbai Indians.

Who Handles The Scorecard During IPL 2026?

The scorecard during the live streaming or live broadcasting of a match is a key aspect of the cricket-watching experience, and broadcasters and streaming partners make sure to notch the quality of that experience up a notch in every edition.

Like every season, this year too, IPL 2026 featured a graphical scorecard at the bottom of the viewing screen. The scorecard is usually made by a team of experts who blend in layers of graphics and coding with a real-time feed of the match.

While it remains error-free for most of the time, there might be some bugs or glitches from time to time that viewers spot. Similarly, a Rohit Sharma bug was spotted by the fans in the KKR vs MI live IPL match scorecard.

Rohit Sharma Glitch Makes Internet Lose Mind

As Trent Boult, the left-arm pacer for Mumbai Indians, came to open the bowling, the portion of the scorecard that displayed the name of the current bowler bowling the over showed ‘Rohit’ instead of ‘Boult’.

A technical glitch on the part of the broadcasters was corrected immediately, a few seconds after; however, the internet was too quick to spot it.

Users posted screenshots and pictures of the blunder on the internet and social media, pointing out and roasting the incident while poking fun at Rohit Sharma.

Let’s take a look at how fans reacted to the scorecard blunder:

KKR Gets A Strong Start From Captain Ajinkya Rahane

Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, didn’t start on a great note at Wankhede. Although Hardik Pandya won the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders' openers Finn Allen and Ajinkya Rahane slammed some gritty knocks to outfox the MI bowlers.

Rahane, currently unbeaten at the crease, scored his half-century while putting on a 32-ball 69-run partnership with Finn Allen. Allen, who was dismissed in the sixth over, also showed dominance with his 17-ball 37 at a strike rate of 217.65.

However, he was sent back by Shardul Thakur in an attempt to hammer a slower delivery outside the off stump.

Cameron Green, the most expensive buy of the IPL 2026 auction, also had to walk back early, scoring only 18 runs off 10 deliveries, as Shardul Thakur struck again in the ninth over.

However, KKR were in a strong position despite losing two quick wickets, as the team totalled 110 runs for the loss of two wickets at the end of 9 overs.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians bowlers Jasprit Bumrah has been fairly beaten in his first over, where he conceded 11 runs. AM Ghazanfar too took a beating, leaking 24 runs from his two-over spell.

Nevertheless, Rohit Sharma will be there to open with Ryan Rickelton, while Suryakumar Yadav will be entering to bat as an impact player.
