In the ongoing IPL 2026 match between LSG and RR, Rishabh Pant's decision to field first turned gold as the visitors failed to read LSG's pace attack. The attacking top-order of Rajasthan Royals were reduced to 77/5 courtesy of Mohammed Shami and Mohsin Khan.
Ravindra Jadeja and Donovan Ferreira took the onus on their shoulders and stitched a 49-run unbeaten stand for the 6th wicket. LSG, particularly, Rishabh Pant had the chance to end the partnership, but LSG skipper's massive error turned into comedy of errors.
Rishabh Pant Fumbles Run-Out Opportunity
On the 5th ball of the 15th over, Ravindra Jadeja gently brushed the ball towards square leg for a double. The duo quickly ran the first run, but Jadeja stopped Ferreria from running two. However, it was too late as the Proteas star was half-way down the track.
It was an easy opportunity for LSG to run Ferreria out. But, as Pant was running from his keeping position to collect the throw, he tumbled over the stumps and dislodged the bail. It allowed Ferreria to return to the crease.
In the process, Pant collected the ball, made a throw to another fielder at the stumps, who uprooted the wicket, but it was too late as the batter already made his ground.
It was a massive moment in the match. Thankfully, for LSG, the error didn't haunt them enough as the the South Africa returned to the pavillion shortly.

Overall, A Brilliant Day For Rishabh Pant In Field
Other than the particular missed run-out opportunity, Rishabh Pant was brilliant in the field. The southpaw took a brilliant catch to get rid of Yashasvi Jaiswal off Mohammed Shami's bowling.
The LSG bowler bowled a sharp delivery, which caught Jaiswal by surprise. A top-edge, nearly travelled for four over Pant's head, but the LSG captain plucked a brilliant catch out of thin air.
Besides that, Pant was a live wire on the field and nealy injured him twice in the first innings.
Rishabh Pant Suffers Injury Scare Twice vs RR
Pant's energy in the field nearly got him injured twice. Firstly, he was hit on the nose by a throw's unexpected bounce. It was a nasty blow and the physio rushed to oversee, whether the LSG captain was bleeding from nose or not.

After a slight delay, Pant continued to keep wickets and lead the side. On the second occasion, Pant made a dive to his right to stop a ball, but it again bounced awkwardly and hit him on the forehead.
The LSG skipper too couldn't believe his luck as he is already nursing an elbow injury, he suffered against RCB.
