In the ongoing IPL 2026 match between the Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals, India seamer Mohammed Siraj suffered a nasty injury. The right-arm seamer, who is known for his heroic efforts on the field, paid the price for stopping a boundary early on in the game.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first. Mohammed Siraj opened the bowling, but had a terrible outing as he went for big runs in his first two overs. Things went from bad to worse for the 32-year-old in the 5th over of the match.

Mohammed Siraj Suffers Nasty Injury vs RR

On the first ball of the 5th over, Vaibhav Suryavanshi produced a thick outside edge off Ashok Sharma’s bowling. Jos Buttler made a diving effort, but could only get fingertips to it. The ball deflected towards the backward point where Siraj was positioned.

The right-arm seamer ran to stop the boundary and got injured in the process. Mohammed Siraj made a full-stretched dive, but hurt himself after he landed on the ground and rolled over the ball. The GT seamer was in unbearable pain and rolled over the boundary cushion.

The physios rushed to treat the injury, and the game resumed without Mohammed Siraj on the field. However, the fans were worried for the 32-year-old, who is crucial to the Gujarat Titans’ bowling attack.

The latest update is that it was just a scare and the right-arm seamer is fit to play. He returned to the field after a short break. He has also returned to bowl after fielding the same time for which he was out of the ground to nurse the injury.

Mohammed Siraj's IPL 2026 Season So Far​

After the injury, Mohammed Siraj returned to bowl in the 11th over of the game. However, he failed to make any impact and went for 15 runs in his third over. Overall, The right-arm seamer has bowled three overs and given away 39 runs without taking any wicket.

Talking about his season in numbers, Siraj is yet to take a wicket in IPL 2026. In the first match against Punjab Kings, the 32-year-old bowled a couple of overs and gave away 15 runs. It is a long tournament and the India seamer has head coach Ashish Nehra's full backing, prompting a stronger comeback. 

Gujarat Titans Fight Back Against Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals got off to a solid start as Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched a 70-run opening stand. The Royals were heading towards a big total but GT bowlers put a break on the scoring rate.

The Riyan Parag-led side were 126/1 at one point but lost two wickets for just nine runs. They had the option to send Shimron Hetmyer for a duck but Rashid Khan, who is leading the side didn't opt for a review.

At the time of writing this article, Rajasthan Royals are 156/3 after 14.2 overs with Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel at the crease.
