As India took on England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for the second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, celebrities, including KL Rahul and Ranbir Kapoor, were seen in the stands supporting the home side.
The second semi-final got underway on March 5 at 7:00 PM IST. While the stadium initially looked empty, spectators soon started arriving in numbers, including a few highly influential celebrities.

Meanwhile, the Wankhede Stadium was buzzing with excitement as soon as the India vs England semi-final kicked off. Indian cricketer KL Rahul was seen in the stands cheering for his team alongside his brother-in-law, Ahaan Shetty.
However, KL Rahul was not the only celebrity to feature in the stands. Influential Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor also attended the game alongside his wife, actor Alia Bhatt, and daughter, Raha.
Ranbir Kapoor, interestingly, shared screen with Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani and Aakash Ambani.
Apart from KL Rahul and Ranbir Kapoor, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, and many other celebrities also attended the game and cheered for Team India loudly from the stands.

India post record total in first inning
Back on the field, Team India nearly sealed the finals berth in the first innings itself. Batting first, the hosts lost Abhishek Sharma early on, with just 9 runs. However, Sanju Samson extended his dream runs with a magnificent 89 off 42 balls.
Ishan Kishan supported him well, scoring 39 off 18 balls as the duo stitched a 97-run partnership. With the platform set, Shivam Dube latched onto the momentum to slam a quick 43 off just 25 balls.
For late fireworks, Hardik Pandya took centre stage, hitting 27 off 12 balls. Tilak Varma also hammered 21 off just 7 balls a India posted a record total of 253/7.

Meanwhile, with the ball, Jofra Archer had an awful day. He conceded 61 runs while grabbing just a solitary wicket. Sam Curran also got hit for 53 runs while Adil Rashid and Will Jacks conceded 41 and 40 runs, respectively.
That being said, the 253/7 became the highest score ever in a T20 World Cup knockout match. India smashed 19 sixes, equalling the most sixes by any team in a T20 World Cup innings.
Also, Sanju Samson now holds the record for most sixes by an Indian batter in a single T20 World Cup (16). For Jofra Archer, 1/61 is the most expensive bowling figure in a T20 World Cup knockout match.
Also, four Indian batters, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya, feature among the top six Indian six-hitters in a single T20 WC edition.
