Babar Azam's underwhelming form continues in the ODI Tri Series in Pakistan 2026, involving England and Sri Lanka, as he got out for another low score against England in Lahore on Sunday evening (October 25, 2026).

Coming into the match, Babar got starts in Pakistan's first two matches of the series, but failed to convert them. Gus Atkinson was all over the 32-year-old after cleaning him up for 10 off 12 on the night.

Gus Atkinson's wild celebration after Babar Azam's Wicket

Chasing a 242-run target after England's underwhelming innings in Lahore, the former Pakistan skipper was called into action early in the innings. Fakhar Zaman got out in the fifth over, and Babar had to avert an early collapse using his experience.

When the batter looked to spend some time on the pitch and anchor the innings, he lost Saim Ayub at the end of the 6th over. However, just five balls later, Babar Azam was also dismissed by Gus Atkinson, reducing Pakistan to 31/3 in 6.5 overs.

Just a ball after Babar hit Atkinson for a four through mid-on, the England bowler went through the massive gap between the batter's bat and pad.

Gus Atkinson's delivery from over the wicket came in with the angle and also found just enough movement off the seam to jag back in. Babar Azam got excited with the length and went for a drive but got his stumps dismantled.

Gus Atkinson was all over the batter with his celebration, pointing towards him as Babar watched on silently.

Babar Azam's slump extends

Considered one of the best batters of the generation, Babar Azam's form has been topsy-turvy for a long time. Since his 151 against Nepal in August 2023, he has scored only one ODI century and 10 fifties in 41 innings. He has averaged only 36.81 at an alarming strike rate of 76.30.

Babar Azam continues to remain a crucial cog in Pakistan's build-up to the World Cup, but his last century dates back to November 2025, which he would like to change, as a lot of ODI cricket will be played over the next 12 months.
