Vaibhav Sooryavanshi might only be 15 years old, but he remains the prized wicket for every IPL bowler. The Rajasthan Royals franchise boasts some quality players in their arsenal, but none bigger than Sooryavanshi, who has become a headache for the remaining IPL franchises.
Many felt his last season’s exploits were just a fluke, and the teenager would be exposed in the ongoing campaign. However, he defied all odds and showcased his dangerous version as the southpaw racked up 583 runs in 14 matches, and has been RR’s best player.
Thus, whenever a bowler takes his wicket, it becomes an honour and also a sigh of relief. This is what Mumbai Indians pacer, Deepak Chahar felt in the MI Vs RR IPL 2026 match.
Chahar flexes Sooryavanshi's IPL wicket
Mumbai were put into bat by Hardik Pandya after winning the toss, and the decision initially backfired as Yashasvi Jaiswal started all guns blazing. The southpaw scored a quickfire 27 before Will Jacks took his prized wicket.
Jaiswal had played the majority of the deliveries in the initial few overs as Sooryavanshi, on the other hand, was eager to get bat on ball. This agitation cost him his wicket as Deepak Chahar spun his web around the batter.
Chahar bowled a length ball as Sooryavanshi went for a slog and mistimed it. The ball took the top-edge as Naman Dhir came running in from the backward point region and took a sharp catch.
Chahar was ecstatic and relieved after taking the wicket, and he also deservedly flexed it during his wicket celebration.

Why Deepak Chahar flaunted Sooryavanshi's wicket
He may be just 15 years old and is just in his second IPL season, but Sooryavanshi has instilled a fear factor in the minds of the opponents. You blink and the RR opener has the ability to snatch the game away from the opposition, and thus, taking his wicket early in the innings becomes crucial.
In the last MI Vs RR match, Sooryavanshi was the one who dismantled the Mumbai bowling attack with a quickfire 39 off 14, and thus, when Deepak Chahar dismissed him for a single-digit score, it became a big thing for the side.

There was a buzz when the IPL 2026 started, as everyone wanted to see how Sooryavashi fared after witnessing success last season.
While most of the other batters struggled in the tournament, the 15-year-old kid stole the show with his breathtaking batting. He accumulated 583 runs in just 14 innings, with an astonishing strike rate of 232.27.
He broke several IPL records in the process, but the last league stage game against the Mumbai Indians ended on a sad note as he scored just 4 off 6 balls before Chahar took his wicket and sent RR into panic mode. However, despite a rare failure, the young gun still had a phenomenal tournament.
