Head of the Centre of Excellence (CoE), VVS Laxman, recently revealed that he had signed a two-year extension last September to take care of the top facility of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
However, the Indian board may offer another job post to the former Test specialist soon, which may come as a surprise to many.
BCCI to offer big post to VVS Laxman
According to India Today's renowned journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, the BCCI is looking at their options and would offer another post to VVS Laxman.
As revealed by the journalist, a parliamentary reporter has told Sardesai that the Head of the Centre of Excellence is getting groomed for a big task at the Indian cricket in September.
"Told by one of my parliamentary reporters that be prepared for VVS Laxman getting a very assisgnment in Indian cricket in September. This is what is buzz. He is ofcourse the Head of the Centre of Excellence, but he is now being groomed for a big task of Indian cricket," Rajdeep Sardesai said on the India Today podcast.

"I don't know what it is. Is it chairman of selector? Is it head coach of white-ball teams? There are a lot of speculations, but this is what someone in the known told one of our reporters in the parliament that VVS Laxman is gonna get a very important assignment come September."
What post can BCCI offer to VVS Laxman?
Although it has been reported time and again that VVS Laxman can replace Gautam Gambhir as head coach, the legendary batter has already turned down the head coach's position. Notably, he was with the Indian team as stand-in head coach during the tour of Zimbabwe in July.
This leaves him with just one top position, which is the post of the chairperson of the national selectors.
Reportedly, Ajit Agarkar's already extended contract will end by September this year, and the BCCI is not looking to hand the current chief selector another extension.
VVS Laxman's contributions to Indian cricket
Once regarded as one of the finest batters to have played the sport for India, VVS Laxman was a part of the Fab Four, comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and himself.
Laxman's legendary knock of 281 runs against Australia at Eden Gardens in 2001 changed the mindset of Indian cricket. Overall, he represented the national team for 16 years, featuring in 134 Test matches and 86 ODIs. Moreover, he racked up over 11,000 international runs, including 23 centuries and 66 half-centuries.
Retired from the international cricket in 2012, the legendary batter is currently serving as the head of CoE, which primarily focuses on player development, high-performance training, advanced sports science, and comprehensive injury rehabilitation.
