RCB star batter Virat Kohli once again proved why he is called the “chase master” during the IPL 2026 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 13. After suffering two back-to-back ducks in previous matches, Kohli made a strong comeback with a brilliant century and helped RCB secure a comfortable six-wicket victory.

The match was played at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, where RCB successfully chased down a target of 193 runs. Moreover, the important win pushed RCB to the top of the IPL points table.

KKR Put Up A Competitive Total

After winning the toss, RCB decided to bowl first. Initially, their bowlers did a good job by reducing KKR to 48/2. However, young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi played a fantastic unbeaten knock of 71 runs from 46 balls. Along with him, Rinku Singh also contributed strongly with 49 not out from 32 deliveries.

Thanks to their partnership, KKR managed to post a solid total of 192/4 in 20 overs. For RCB, Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam Dar, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up one wicket each.

Virat Kohli Anchors The Chase

While chasing the big target, RCB lost opener Jacob Bethell early for just 15 runs. Even then, Virat Kohli stayed calm and controlled the innings beautifully. He also received good support from Devdutt Padikkal, who scored 39 runs from 27 balls with seven boundaries.

Together, Kohli and Padikkal built a crucial 92-run partnership which kept RCB ahead of the required run rate. As a result, the pressure slowly shifted towards KKR.

The most memorable moment of the match came during the 18th over of the chase. Notably, Kohli was batting in the 90s and was very close to reaching his ninth IPL century. On the third ball of the over, bowled by Kartik Tyagi, Kohli smashed a massive 88-metre six over deep mid-wicket.

Virat Kohli Gets Carried Away After Slamming A Huge Six

The crowd erupted in excitement, and Kohli himself got carried away in the moment. Right after hitting the six, he started dancing in celebration, thinking he had reached his century. However, within seconds, he realised that he was actually on 98 and still needed two more runs to complete the hundred.

As soon as he understood the situation, Virat Kohli quickly stopped the celebration and smiled at the funny mistake. The moment instantly became a talking point among fans on social media.

Soon after that amusing incident, Kohli completed his century in the next over with complete calmness. He reached the milestone in just 58 balls and once again showed why he remains one of the best batters in IPL history.

The RCB opener remained unbeaten on 105 runs off 60 deliveries, hitting 11 fours and three sixes. Most importantly, he carried his bat till the end and guided his team to victory in perfect fashion.

Virat Kohli Back In Orange Cap Race

With this outstanding knock, Virat Kohli also moved up in the race for the IPL Orange Cap. Currently, he has scored 484 runs in 12 innings at an average of 53.77 and an impressive strike rate of 165.75.

At present, he is behind Heinrich Klaasen and Sai Sudharsan in the standings. Nevertheless, Kohli’s return to form is a huge boost for RCB as the tournament heads towards the playoff stage.
